@allan
How so???.....Gayle & Sarwan test average in the 40's ....Shai in 20's....pls explain!!
@CCW
check his average since his return?
the now 3-4 more centuries scored after based on innings played
@allan
The young man is doing well
Leave as that
Two different eras.. two different stage of career
@allan
Ok he's going thru a purple patch but this doesnt make up or can erase the barren spell he went thru after he burst onto the scene against England with 100 in each inns at Headingly a few years ago....its encouraging an no doubt Shai statistically is an Odi great but he's still a long way from being compared to either Sarwan an Gayle on the test front an watching him im not entirely sure he's overcome his technical deficiencies to short-pitched deliveries into his body an certainly Sri lankan bowlers not quick enough to test him .....nevertheless hoping he maintains his current form in all formats.

Gayle & Sarwan test average in the 40's ....Shai in 20's....pls explain!!
Let me see if I can explain it:
Beyond that, I cannot justify madness.
@JoeGrine
Read what I said above pls
The absolute you said above is right, but the margins show a strong improvement and a comparative level of contribution, as the 2 men mentioned
@Poggy
SARS was arguably one of finest ODI finishers
He was ODI player of the year...
And also the last great batsman the region produce..
@CCW
If you take out all his poor innings and keep in his best innings, pardner, he is also on par with Sobers!!!!!!
@allan
Hope was recalled after his last test in December 2021 for the home series against Australia in June 2025
since then he has played 8 tests and 16 innings
3 vs Australia
2 in India
3 in New Zealand
1 now ( incomplete against Sri Lanka )
534 runs a in 16 innings so far at an average of 33.4 ( vs his previous 1726 runs at 25.01 in 38 tests before)
he average under 20 vs Australia
but made 103 in Delhi followed by 140, 56 and 103 in three consecutive innings
now his score and first century on the Caribbean in this incomplete tests against Sri Lanka (112 run century)
the guy is doing very well and his 33.4 since his return sits between the two archetypes - Sarwan dropped in 2010 and in 2011 his return was a collapsing of form though he ended at 40.01 from 87 tests
