...............Short fence man...

Too many memories to mention so…

Rest Well Our Champion!!

The greatest cricketer the world has ever seen is mourning, as his beloved lifelong partner has passed away.

Instead, the legendary Barbadian icon and national hero is mourning the profound loss of his longtime partner, Jackie White, who passed away at their home in Highgate Gardens, St. Michael, following a lengthy illness.

As news settles that Jackie has played her final innings after a long and courageous battle with illness, the global cricket family stands entirely still. We do not just mourn the loss of a beautiful soul; we wrap our arms around Sir Garry, who has lost his most precious partner at the crease of life

Yes, West Indies cricket legend Sir Garfield "Garry" Sobers has passed away. Reports from Barbados Today and cricket journalists confirmed on July 17, 2026, that the iconic National Hero of Barbados died at the age of 89, just two weeks shy of his 90th birthday.

Was the loss of Jackie White, led to his passing.

Well, more clarification is needed. The Barbados News is reporting that he died but some are saying the opposite

@dayne

Not sure who the some are.

I got a Whatsapp … from an extremely reliable source.

Starcom and CBC have announced it and on top of that…I heard his son speaking moments ago on the radio.

I am so saddened upon reading this. I know he was not doing well for a while, but somehow we are selfish in some respects. We want them to stay on. I will always cherish the memory of him leading the team out at Bourda… collar up and the walk. Rest in Peace Sir Garfield Sobers.

By far the greatest cricketer there has ever been. Its not even close and Kallis is not second. Sobers dominated three generations of great cricketers. nothing more has to be said
