The greatest. I remember the joys and expectations Sobers brought for people. It used to be jubilation in the house, neighbourhood when he hit a century. It was radio commentary in those days, and it had better effect than all modern technology. When he hit a four you could hear the roars from all parts of the village, as men, women, children jumped and screamed in jubilation. And, this was not even in Barbados. I can't help but celebrate the life of such a hero to the West Indies. And, the calypso by the mighty Sparrow is a worthy tribute. Calypso and cricket went hand in hand. many of the calypsonians celebrated our heroic cricket in song. Long live.

Oh wow. Deepest deepest condolences to Sir Gary's family and the people of Barbados.
Sir Gary was one of the stalwarts who "institutionalized" WI cricket contributed to Caribbean identity and integration. I am truly humbled and saddened at his passing inevitable though it may be.
😓

Some time words are iinadequate to express sadness as well as praise and it is so with Garfield Sobers from my vantage point..His passing to meisnot only of a Great an and GOAT where cricket is concerned but marks the end o an Institution whee the game is concerned.
We all expect to die but t=still the news of his passing is hard to bear.\
His records and deeds on the Cricket field has left so many memories that wil serve anyone a lifetime of treasure.
Condelences to his Family, cricketers everwhere the game is payed and to the people of Barbados which gifted us all , a wonderful man hose contribution to West Indies cricket and the world will carry and remain eternal.
RIP Garry.
RIP Sir Gary, my boyhood hero from legendary WI Team of the 60s.
One memory I have now is when he got a duck (first ball ?) at Sabina in '68', courtesy of John Snow in the first innings, the usual ovation that greeted him when he came to the crease had barely died down. Then with WI following on he made that n.o. century, on the Sabina minefield, in the second innings declaring, and almost winning the match. Only saw him in the flesh once, partnering Wes Hall in a double wicket tournament (remember that), at Sabina.
