Critical until his boy is elevated to Head Coach/Head Selector/Supreme Leader

It's obvious our cricketers are lacking and it's obvious Sammy and Reifer have no answer to combat New New Zealand's spin options. One would expect the coaches suggesting some way to counter the Lennox threat, nothing, nada. Still batting sub 200. If Lennox don't get you then Shantner will.

All other coaches were criticized, but Sammy gets a "Heartbreaking loss, BUT......"

Bowling has been good, AlJo, Shamar, Mottie, Seales and Forde all thrived under Coley. They're still shining

But now we have Lawes. Shouldn't that alone be enough to shut you the fact up?

@LBW375

1-0 Win vs Lanka at Home after 23 years. Your boy Coley could not even beat Bangladesh at home. Oshameless.

Sammy has persisted with King, Campbell and now brought in the rookie Lawes. He even brought Shields out of obscurity and Oshane still playing for Leewards due to his persistence.

Ungrateful.

9-2 . No that is not a football score line but 9 Tests centuries in this Test cycle compared to 2 in the last.

Put down your hate for Sammy Bro. Now is the time to rally.

Tue, Jul 21, '26 at 11:40 AM

How can anyone rally?

You cannot continue to pick youngsters for international cricket with such a poor regional average.

Tue, Jul 21, '26 at 12:39 PM

@openning

No Opening we not going back to the days of Kraig Brathwaite's bullyism at Regional level and then to play 100 Tests ats 32. Too little regional cricket is played and the quality is questionable.

  1. Campbell is a better Test batsman than Devon Smith.
  2. Asking Reifer to assist batsmen is like asking Elizabeth Taylor for marriage advice...madness!
  3. There's no sammy without Marlon Samuels!

😂😂

Be nice to Voicey.....he means well...😎

@voiceofreason

You are shameless! Hiding behind Sammy picking Jamaicans as if Jamaicans are insular and parochial as you are. No! We want a good WI team regardless of players' origin. Campbell was opener prior ban. Still not clear that picking 19yr old Vitel is sound.

Tue, Jul 21, '26 at 6:09 PM

@voiceofreason

Kraigg had his turn, even playing 100 tests.

In a time when we needed batsmen, Kraigg was the guy who delivered on occasion; his average is still one of the highest during his time,

If our youngsters cannot score runs at the regional level, how do we expect them to score runs at the international level?

@sgtdjones

Apologies! I won't do it again.

Tue, Jul 21, '26 at 7:07 PM

@JoeGrine

Campbell is a better Test batsman than Devon Smith.

27.85 to 23.78 boy you stretching it . Shameless!

Asking Reifer to assist batsmen is like asking Elizabeth Taylor for marriage advice...madness!

9 test tons in the test cycle two from the Man John Campbell who you championing. Go check his average before last year. Coley - 2 test tons in the last test cycle.

There's no sammy without Marlon Samuels!

Or is it no Samuels without Sammy's great motivational captaincy.

Tue, Jul 21, '26 at 7:48 PM

@voiceofreason

Hey Sport, check this:

  1. Marlon Samules didn't need your idol to be globally recognized. Steve Waugh saw brilliance on the teenager's Test debut.
  2. NO MARLON SAMUELS - then your idol would be duly recognized as the crawling leach he was. One who hid when he knew his dibbly dobblers had no business in regional much less international cricket.
  3. I champion no one, if you were an astute reader, your friends here would say you should remove your head from you know where, you would see that I was alluding to the low value (i.e) your star batter Devon Smith that a marginal John Campbell is a better Test opener than he Smith is. Only in your warped, parochial and disingenous mind is 27.85 not higher than 23.78.

Seriously though, can someone explain, even if we go on and roll over, the difference when batting first against batting second?
