Motie or Lawes?

Campbell

Auguste

Carty

Hope

Rutherford

Hetmyer

Chase

Forde/Greaves

Alzarri

Seales

.........?

And how does Jangoo fit in despite scoring a 50?

Wed, Jul 22, '26 at 10:49 AM

@Seechy

Jangoo should be the chosen opener specially in India.....need players, who once set can score big.....

Jangoo

Greaves

Carty/Campbell

Hope

Hety

Rutherford

Chase

Joseph

Forde

Seales

Motie/Lawes

Indian as very good players of spin...

Carty is very susceptible against spin...

@Onionman0

Carty/Campbell?

Wed, Jul 22, '26 at 4:36 PM

@Seechy

He plays at 7.

7. Chase

8. Motie

9. Alzarri

10. Seales

11. Lawes

@natty_forever

Campbell unproven in ODI....

Carty has scores but sitting duck against spin...

Campbell in squad...he scored century in India in test..... aggressive...plays well against spin... usually throws away his wicket....

King is another player,who has been regularly selected but failed....

Of the three...my pick Campbell....

Taking into consideration..Bumrah,Prasidha,Axar, Washington, Kuldeep,Varun...

@Seechy

Who does Chase replace?

Would have to be Motie

Motie averages 20 with the bat and 30 with the ball

Chase averages 24 with the bat and 35 with the ball

Essentially they do similar jobs

But Chase is 27’s boy and therefore, barring injury, will always be one of the first names in 27’s starting XI

@Onionman0

Greaves is not an ODI opener, I wish they'd abandon this, he's now played mostly as an opener, 9 matches, averaging 19.

He was doing well at 6, put him back there or 7, or none at all,

Campbell

King

Jangoo

Hope

Rutherford

Hetmyer

Forde

Motie

Aljo

Seales

Lawes

@DIEHARD

Greaves is not an ODI opener, I wish they'd abandon this,

Justin Greaves scored 3 centuries on the trot while opening the batting in a recent Super 50 competition

@imusic

List A is not ODI, but he is the one eyed man in Blindville.

Playing him ahead of King also gives WI the 6th bowler option

A deeper look in his ODI stats shows he's batted at #6 vs Ireland and Bangladesh but opened vs Australia, New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka , maybe the opposition is the reason for his better record at 6.

@imusic

Would have to be Motie
Motie averages 20 with the bat and 30 with the ball
Chase averages 24 with the bat and 35 with the ball

Where did you pluck a bowling average of 35 from? Machel's recent video bigging up Thanos? He is wrong.

Roston Chase has an ODI bowling average of 44.44, economy of 4.91, strike rate of 54.2.

Gudakesh Motie has an ODI bowling average of 30.88, economy of 4.74, strike rate of 39.0.

Despite Mach classing Chase as a bowling all rounder, his bowling stats are piss poor compared to Motie's. Plus Motie recently took a five-fer and almost single-handedly won the match which would have decided the series. Does he deserve to be dropped for a lesser player?

I would take Motie as a bowling all rounder every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

@Seechy

I would take Motie as a bowling all rounder every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

Very much agree. But as long as 27 in charge, Chase will be preferred. Nothing you, I, nor anyone else can do about that.

Seechy…….AS I SAID

I know this is Test cricket, but 27 isn’t fond of Motie. Pretty surprised to see Da Silva still in the squad.

Guessing Alazari might be injured & unavailable.

looks like King flat out get drop. Most definitely Anderson Phillip was dropped.
