The Captain said he chose to bat first to take advantage of great batting conditions. But is poking and blocking really what this game is about? No wonder no one attends these games in the Caribbean. Taje simply cannot bat and should be kept far away from any cricket field. He is simply unable to get the ball off the square. I know the cupboard is empty. But anything is better than this crap.

Just rotating the strike should at least take you in the mid twenties.

Tage is playing test cricket.... of era gone by.... Gavaskar.. Boycott,et al.... blunting the new ball.. giving other batters to bat in easier condition...a 50 facing 200 balls...gets my vote..

I respectfully disagree. This is not batting. It is not to say the bowling is Ambrose, Marshall, Lillie and Thompson. This is not cricket. He is incapable of getting the ball off the square. I have been watching and following cricket and test cricket for 60 years. This makes no sense.

Conditions were not good for batting this morning even tho Tage bats the same way under all conditions.

But yes....others may get a chance when conditions are much better

The way Tage bats only puts pressure on the other batsmen. I made this point before that Campbell struggles whenever he bats with Tage and the same seems to be happening to King because they seem pressured to move the score along as things are stagnant at the other end.

The way Tage bats the WI could bat 80 overs and still not passed 150. What's the sense of that? I rather 300/5 at the end of the day if elected to to first than 130/0.

I understand being watchful first few overs but the problem is that Tage does not change gears!! He is stuck in first gear however long he bats!!

J.Campbell averages 27 with a strike rate of 51

K.McKenzie averages 16 with a strike rate of 58

Basically, the cupboard is bare. None of them are of genuine test quality but at this time, they are about the only options unless the selectors try something different, such as blood a youngster or move somebody from their usual position, which may be the better option.

Campbell being injured did not help but the problem exists regardless.

A highest score of 207 NO and an average of 29 tells yo everything you need to know about Tage,

If you remove the outlier (207*) his average would be 19.

Removing the outliers improves the centrality of the data and thus limits skewness.

This is poor even by West Indies standards.

You say that to say what? Because it's test cricket a man must keep batting at a strike rate of 25 runs per 100 balls? You do realize that after 100 overs the score would just be 150? What's the point of batting 4 sessions in a test match and only scoring 150? How does that get you ahead in the test? At some point he has to show an intention to score.

To the contrary, I am saying you bat according to conditions. A consistent low SR despite the conditions says a lot about a batsman's ability and perhaps selfishness.
