Why we have to end play because of poor light?

I wouldn't agree that it's an archaic rule. There is a bit of difficulty in seeing the red ball in during that dusk period.

Ok so the floodlights won't help? That's why we use pink ball for day/nighters? Just thinking of the few fans who came out too see cricket. Actually was not a bad turnout.

Even with the pink ball the period during dusk it has been reported is very tricky for batters.
