A tragic incident in St. Mary has claimed the life of 31-year-old Shirnell Maxine Ettienne of Trinidad and Tobago after the car in which she was travelling crashed into the Wag Water River.

Police say the occupants escaped the vehicle, but Ettienne was swept away by the strong current while trying to reach safety. She was later recovered and pronounced dead at hospital. The other occupants were treated for injuries.
