TKR start defense against Patriots
Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riderd (TKR) will begin their title defense against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots this evening in St Vincent. Nicholas Pooran leads the team again. It remains to be seen whether TKR will be at full strength for this opening match.
Former captain Kieron Pollard has been involved with MI London in the ongoing Hundred tournament in England, while new recruit, all-rounder Justin Greaves picked up a groin injury playing for the West Indies against Pakistan in the second Test in Trinidad this week. Greaves was unable to bowl in that match.
The Patriots will be led by all-rounder Jason Holder. They didn’t make the playoffs last season. But the former champions will be seeking a resurgence with a squad that includes Sri Lankans Wanindu Hasaranga and Dasun Shanaka, Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah and Australian all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary. The two sides will clash at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex from 7 p.m.
