He also influences the racist Mahatma Gandhi to return to India and form the freedom movement. Many Caribbean and African leaders were inspired by Garvey.

I am amaze that this post did not gather more traffic

The Caribbean still does not have a full appreciation for its heroes. Who mentions people like Toussaint L'Ouverture, CLR James, Constantine, Worrell, Eric Williams, Norman Manley, Grantley Adams, Derek Walcott, Vidia Naipaul, Allen Lewis, Rudi Capildeo and many others who also helped create the Caribbean identity that we have now largely squandered in pursuit of a lifestyle like that in other countries?

Yes indeed, we don't appreciate our heroes, they provide us with a rich history.

Yes indeed, the majority of blacks in the Nation of Islam were West Indian due to the Hon. Marcus Garvey. Due my days at college we invited his son to speak to the Caribbean union Society.
