exactly....mr 10% zadari and nawaz shariff. If you read Imran Khan's book Pakistan: A personal history, he gives an account of Nawaz Shariff as Punjab Chief Minister appointing himself captain for the day of Pakistan in a warm up game against the WI before the 1987 world cup. Imran thought it was a non playing role until he saw Shariff padding up with a floppy cap to go out to face any one of several suspects. Imran inquired if they had an ambulance on site because of the likelihood of shariff being seriously hurt or worse(shariff had never even played FC cricket).....and i strongly suspect that he spoke to viv as well because the bowler greeted shariff with a yorker which dismissed him before he could fully react.
honestly i doh understand how zadari could have gotten a goddess like Benazir bhutto....he wasn't exceptionally handsome and there are contentions over whether he graduated from high school. there is a rumor imran and bhutto were a couple at oxford, he denies it, she's dead and his rep as a ladies man precedes him(wasim said a guyanese millionaire's daughter flew him by helicopter to their estate in the amazon in his autobiography) so i wouldn't doubt it happened.
There was a Test match in Guyana in 1988. Those days there was a rest day. Imran told me and Ijaz Ahmed, we were going on a trip. One of his friends, she had her own plane. We sat on a private plane and reached a deserted island, owned by her dad. They went into chat into the house. “Me and Ijaz just looked at each other what should we do now? We can’t even go back to the hotel. Some workers took us on a boat. We came back after 7-8 hours. Imran was ready to go.”
