With only four points on the board and just three games to play, the margin for error has disappeared for defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League.

Tonight’s final home game against current leaders Antigua and Barbuda Falcons is a must-win if Nicholas Pooran’s side are to maintain their fading hopes of reaching the playoff round as one of the top four teams.

Monday’s nine-run defeat to the Guyana Amazon Warriors on the Duckowrth/Lewis/Stern method means that TKR could get only to a maximum ten points, providing they win all their remaining matches. But even those points may not be enough if other results do not go their way. TKR were fifth ahead of last night’s match between the teams below them—Barbados Tridents (four points, four matches) and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (three points, six matches).

Pooran still struck a positive note Monday in his post-match interview, saying: “We’re very optimistic, to be honest. T20 cricket is funny. We have three games left. If we can turn up for all three games and get ourselves to 10 points, you never know.”

...and what would be even funnier (not for us GAW fans), Warriors will probably lose that match as well under that immense pressure since TKR won't have anything to lose and go all out on us.....

I am real sorry to see such a storied franchise disintegrate this way. But blame must go to the owners and management who selected these misfit bowlers. So much talk about the aging team, but the oldsters have all delivered. So that discussion is moot. A side with no bowlers except for Narine is destined to go no where. CPL needs a strong Trinidad team. And I am a Amazon Warriors diehard fan.
