Actually Mia visited Delcy

They discuss health cooperation, agricultural production, energy projects, air connectivity, and maritime and tourism trade.

On Monday, Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez received Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas.

..............

"It’s amazing how fast principles fly out the window when billions of barrels of oil are on the line. For years, Washington preached about sanctions, democracy, and fighting corruption in Venezuela. But the second a massive oil deal drops? They jump straight into bed with Alejandro Betancourt, a guy who literally made his billions through corrupt state contracts.

If anyone wants a modern-day example of the 'extraction business model' one is talking about, this is it. The US government used Pentagon funds to buy a direct stake in Betancourt's company, carving out a 100-year concession over a fifth of Venezuela's oil reserves.

And don't let the word 'oil' fool you, they aren't harvesting clean black gold here. The Orinoco Belt holds some of the heaviest, absolute dirtiest tar-sludge on the planet. It’s a toxic nightmare packed with sulfur, nickel, and vanadium that literally corrodes pipelines and tanker hulls from the inside out. At room temperature, it has the consistency of silly putty. They have to blast the ground with boiling steam and chemical diluents just to force it to flow, giving it the highest carbon footprint per barrel of any oil on Earth.

The worst part of that NY Times piece is that the US Justice Department actively blocked Swiss authorities and stopped Florida prosecutors from investigating this guy for a $1 billion money laundering scheme, just to keep this toxic sludge flowing. It completely blows up the 'rule of law' argument. It’s the exact same old-school imperial playbook, just with private jets and modern banking. Turns out, a criminal is only a criminal until they have enough resources to sell you."

Note: I have been to (Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A.) Venezuelan Research Headquarters just outside Caracas ,built refinery equipment for such oil, identical to the ones supplied to Syncrude In Alberta. America haven't got the refineries to make this oil into useable fuels at the moment. It will take over 100 billion plus dollars and ten plus years to get any usable fuel.
