Coaches: Fat Like Mud

No data, just a general observation around the west Indies, and not just limited to cricket, but extends to Track and field as well. Some of these coaches were former professional athletes, but after becoming coaches, just "leggo" themselves and turned into massive unfit men. It is not a pleasant sight looking at a coaches with huge tummies, almost touching their toes. Physical Fitness is a lifetime commitment, and one of the prerequisites for keeping away many health problems. A coach should be a model to his/her charges as well. When I look at some of our coaches, I sometimes wonder if this "don't care" attitude toward their physical appearance is the same attitude that hindered their abilities to go beyond mediocrity. I look at some of our coaches and all i could remember is the character, Sharlo, in the Caribbean book of short stories, The Sun's Eye. I do not intend to offend, but one hopes that they would look at themselves in the mirror and do better.
