...Coast Guard intercepts $204.5m in cocaine

LAW enforcement officers have busted a massive cocaine shipment valued at an estimated $204.5 million after intercepting a pirogue carrying more than 440 kilogrammes of the illegal drug off Trinidad’s north-western coast yesterday.

The drug seizure resulted in the arrest of four men—three Trinidadians and one Venezuelan—after the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) intercepted the vessel near Huevos Island early yesterday morning.

According to law enforcement information obtained by the Express, at approximately 5.56 a.m., officers intercepted a pirogue named “FISH POT BOYS” approximately 600 feet north-east of Umbrella Rock, Huevos Island. The vessel was described as having a white hull, grey gunwale and grey interior. It was powered by three Yamaha 200-horsepower two-stroke outboard engines.
