Doesn’t say much about the local talent!

Isnt the reality that foreigners get the majority of the chances? They bat in the early stages in most of the teams, they get to play all the matches. One gets the feeling that the coaches either have no confidence in the WI players or are instructed that the foreign players must play as that is the real purpose why viewers want to watch CPL.

that's part of the problem. the dodo brains who oversaw the contract (we all know who they are) signed this contract essentially surrendering all t20 rights to CPL so we cant have a tournament with only locals.....and as we have seen, very little has changed since the CT20 as the break out league showed. i hope people realize the WI t20 side has gotten worse since the hurry done idea called the cpl came into our lives

But, where would the money come from to pay the players?

Would the local boards have the ability to pay and retain the players from signing with foreign leagues?

Would CPL able to get and retain league sponsorship over the long haul??

Would each territory have Franchise Owners?

exposure would have been its own reward. the vast majority of the players that dominated t20 cricket in the region between 2009 and 2016 came through the CT20 system and also secured lucrative t20 contracts: narine, cooper, barnwell, russell, santokie, cottrell. reason for that is they had opportunities to play. if you're not getting opportunities, then you're not getting any exposure. Kieron pollard commented on this a few years ago and explicitly said WI needs another t20 tournament to develop local players. CWI finally listened to him last year but it seems the financial difficulties of the board has caused it to be put on the backburner

There is no local talent. Most do not have the basic batting technique. The bowlers have no discipline or a plan. Young players are coming from Pakistan and Afganistan and making our so called seasoned players look like school boys. The cupboard is empty and we can jump high and low and nothing will change. Our players are simply not prepared to do the hard work to learn to become professionals. It is the new world and there is no definitive plan to try to make a change just alot of talk. Sit back and enjoy the licks coming from India later this month.

There is not much the frnchises can do to pust local talents as the owners of these franchises have a big say in who plays ...

It was dominated primarily by the Pakistanis who also now make up the majority of the foreign players.

Not so long ago the tournament attracted many more players from England, Aus, NZ, and South Africa.

That’s because those players are now playing in newly formed ETPL.👈

Lots more Asian viewers...hope the locals see what it takes to make it to the next level. Exposure to talent is good for the youngsters, lets hope they learn
