Sammy: Chance to see where Windies at

West Indies head coach Daren Sammy will be using the upcoming One-Day International series against India as an opportunity to measure his team’s progress, with the visitors chasing a series victory in India for the first time in more than two decades.

The West Indies last won an ODI series in India in 2002, when the Caribbean prevailed 4-3 in a seven-match contest.The Shai Hope-led West Indies will face India in three ODIs beginning on Sunday in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by matches in Guwahati on September 30 and New Chandigarh on October 3.

And with the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup qualifiers set for early 2027, Sammy believes the series against the world’s No. 1-ranked team provides an important test of the progress made by his ODI unit.“It’s been 24 years we’ve not won a series in India,” Sammy said to CWI Media.

Sammy noted that the focus now is using the India series to fine-tune the combination before the qualifiers.

Did your coaching staff and you get a 25% cut in renumerations?

I dont think these players will be motivated , so expect a cutrass of epic proportions.

The last time I checked, in cricket, scoring 10 runs is better than scoring 9 runs. So according to cricketing terms WI has improved.

most useless series ever. we don't know if the technical weaknesses of the batsmen have been addressed because they are batting on absolute roads. we don't know what level the bowling is like for the same reason. and CWI are not even getting a sliver of broadcast money because that is not how the current financial model works.
