Bridgetown — Cricket West Indies has urged member nations to "explore independent futures," after a financial review found the board's reserves consisted of three stumps, a dented kit bag and an IOU from 1984.
"Frankly, we can no longer afford to be a region," said CWI CEO Chris Don’tring, shaking a collection bucket outside Kensington Oval. "Jamaica may do better touring alone. Barbados could lease Jacob Bechtel and Jofra Archer on weekends."
Analysts welcomed the plan, noting that fifteen separate teams would finally allow the West Indies to lose to India fifteen times per series, maximising broadcast revenue.
