This whole Man city scandal, 114 guilty findings

This whole Man city scandal, 114 guilty findings just seem farcical to me. I didn’t think the league had 115 rules, let alone to have City violate 114 of them.

What is City guilty of, spending their money to get quality players? And it took 7 years for the governing entities to figure that? I think the league governance is the ones guilty of malpractice.

Maybe I am just biased, but the premier league without Man City will be 30% less interesting

Once you do serious research on institutions you discover that there is an awful lot of corruption,

The premiership knew what was going on it just come to light because of a computer hacker. They always wanted Man City to rise and challenge Man Utd for the keys to the city. It profits them with TV viewing and worldwide interest.

Only reason Newcastle Utd couldn't do the same was because Sunderland isn't a big hitter in the league to replicate that script. Derbies and rivalries is where it really 'kicks'.. Tribalism is what the british fans lives for, nice package to sell to the worldwide fans..

The Cheatizens were not found guilty for spending money, but for financial deception. The independent commission found them guilty of 114 charges, including disguising millions in owner funding as fake sponsorships, hiding staff salaries, and actively obstructing the investigation. Running a decade-long scheme to make quality spending on the back of a systematic fraud that ruined fair competition.

The league benefitted from City’s rise and may or may not have been aware of the financial fraud until the hacker exposed the truth. The argument about Newcastle is baseless  because the Manchester City investigation was made public in 2018, three  years before the Saudi takeover of Newcastle in 2021. Newcastle couldn't copy the City model because the Premier League had already closed the loopholes and tightened financial rules specifically to prevent another club from abusing disguised sponsorships.

The threat of political interference is a massive concern. The United Arab Emirates is reportedly threatening to pull billions in UK investments over the charges (their rulers are owners of Man City). Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has defended City’s owners. So, this is far from over. Anyway you take it, the integrity of the Premier League is at risk.

@Chrissy

“. Anyway you take it; the integrity of the Premier League is at risk.” Naah - that’s called “naive realism”---before this came to light – would you have made the same claim?

City is the best thing that has happened to soccer since Pele. It has brought more entertainment, innovation, worldwide Popularity and financial rewards not only to the premier league, but to world soccer.
