Something to do with Shamar Joseph and “spirit of the game”. Anyone know what is the issue?
I hear Gavaskar is moaning again
Sunil Gavaskar questions Shamar Joseph's sportsmanship after Arshdeep Singh's injury in 4th T20I
Sunil Gavaskar criticised Shamar Joseph for continuing to bowl short to an injured Arshdeep Singh.
Arshdeep was struck on his left upper arm and retired hurt on 5 off 4 balls.
West Indies beat India by 24 runs in Hyderabad to level the series 2-2.
The incident sparked debate over sportsmanship and competitive aggression in cricket.
Arshdeep was in pain, and the physiotherapist went on to the field. However, after a pause in the game, the Indian fast bowler attempted to carry on batting; yet, Joseph continued bowling short deliveries.
The matter left Gavaskar furious from the commentary box, with the veteran batsman criticising the West Indies pacer for persisting with his aim at Arshdeep and not bowling at the open stumps.
"He is aiming at him," Gavaskar commented on air. "Why attack the batter when the stumps are right there?"
Ultimately, Arshdeep retired hurt on 5 off four deliveries, ending India's innings at 223. Even their captain Shreyas Iyer gestured to him from the dugout to retire out of the game.

"Where should cricketers draw the line between aggression and sportsmanship?
Aggressive bowling comes hand in hand with fast bowling. Short-pitched deliveries were legitimate in the T20 format that Joseph was playing.
What made things difficult for Joseph was that India required 35 runs off the last over with only one wicket left in hand. After hitting Arshdeep, he looked uncomfortable, hence making it risky for Joseph to continue bowling short at an injured player.
It does not mean that bowlers should shy away from being aggressive in their approach even when the batter opposite them gets injured. The game is all about competing, and one instance should not define the character or the motive of a player.
But aggression and sportsmanship can go hand in hand. Aggression is the contest itself, and sportsmanship is the skill of handling that aggression."

Shamar targeting at the body of Arshdeep rather than wicket....hit him once on the arm.... ultimately, he retired out....

I watched the match yesterday.
And I heard the comment. I did not know it was Gavaskar talking.
But, I agreed,
Shamar should have been aiming at the stumps from Ball One, in that last over. Surely, with India needing 35 runs; you would think that he would nail the Yorker at least once.
He's needs to lessen his pace and concentrate on a good line.
White Ball Cricket is where the money is Shamar. Make sure you master it.

I remember writing an article in the Jamaica Gleaner defending Courtney Walsh who was similarly criticized for unleashing a barrage of short-pitched bowling at the then world’s greatest rabbit, Devon Malcolm.😂
I submitted my article and waited patiently for its publication. To my surprise and dismay, a certain highly reputed sports journalist (who shall remain nameless especially since one should not speak ill of the dead!) published my article almost verbatim under his own name before my article eventually ended up almost buried a week later…you had to search hard to find it.😂
Gavaskar is a well known wanker. The man who described West Indian fans as savages …I have no respect for that bloke..
i just thought it was bad bowling by shamar at a number 10 batsman who unfortunately got glanced by on of the worst deliveries of the match
i think gavaskar is over reacting

No issues with Shamar bowling in that last over. Man could have bowl straight to stumps and get licked for siexed and ya'll gonna vex ... add in if he bowl a no ball or two. All t20 batsmen can throw their bats around ... people who say he targetting the batsman want to look at it that way - in reality he was targetting the place least he was least likely to get hit.
