Sammy: Finish on a high
...WI want to end year unbeaten in Test series
West Indies have 10 days of Test cricket left to strengthen their standing in the World Test Championship and improve their prospects of attracting commercial backing, with head coach Daren Sammy challenging his players to finish the campaign strongly against Bangladesh, starting tomorrow in Mirpur. Sammy believes his team has the ability to finish on a high note, insisting that the progress made in recent months has given the players reason to approach the contest with confidence.
“These next two Test matches present us with a great opportunity to finish the Test Championship with the goal we started in 2025,” Sammy said. “We’re looking forward to the series. As usual, respect the opposition, study them, come up with plans that could help us be victorious. I’m quite sure we could come here and do that.”
Sammy’s immediate priority is to ensure that West Indies translate their preparation into results, giving themselves a chance to close the championship cycle with a performance that reflects the progress they believe they have made.
