didn;t hodge open already for the wi already ?i thought it was interesting decision to go for dasliva to open

You make a good point about Hodge being the stand-in opener. But I think management thought it more useful to have him bat in his usual position

in at the deep end by asking him to open?
This are a genuine questions
For how long before this match this Da Silva know he would open? Does the the team management identify him as having the temperament, technique and adequate preparation to open, considering of course the pitch conditions
I am still questioning Sammy's handling of Joshua Da Silva.
But, I am watching

Cry Music or Sarge D must have hacked InHindsight's account. These Trinis are ruthless! Wackie!!!

From pass posts, it was said that DaSilva is an opening batter in club cricket in Trinidad

Two players took ill and forced last minute changes. Now what are the options available to us? Jangoo has the gloves, he did a tidy job last game and Sammy maybe onto something, can we give Josh the gloves and let Jangoo open? Jangoo goes on to score a unbeaten century at 4 and we know he bats big. Hodge to open? Hodge has never opened and he does not even bat at 3 for Windwards where he is batting now for WI. Wickham the rookie? That would be a huge mistake.

Josh wants to play and prove himself just like anyone on the fringes of this team. He took the opportunity when asked so not sure what is the issue here.Sarge and Cry Music please give Hindy back his account.

In regional games for two seasons.......Silva batting at No.3...... He got an opportunity.....Tage & Campbell ill...... could not score big....hard luck.....No one should be blamed....

Now that I know all the facts i not incensed at Da Silva being given the chance to open.

It actually proves Sammy and team management correct.

Let's hope Da Silva can fix the glaring problem of playing around his front pad.

In regionals, how many bowlers have the ability to "bring the ball back in" is consistent enough to exploit hus weaknesses.

I am suspecting WI is looking to bat once on this wicket - all of day one and two.

Solution is better more nimble footwork which he can work on, or some more hand eye coordination which can be honed a bit but you are more or less born with what you will have.
