CaribbeanCricket.com Nov 25, 2006, 8:14:29 AM

West Indies fast bowler Corey Collymore, who bowled exceptionally in the first two Test matches against Pakistan but without much luck, plans to put aside the disappointment and get on with the job of leading the West Indies bowling attack.

Collymore talked about being in the best form of his life, his role in guiding the young fast bowlers and looking for greater rewards in the final test match in Karachi where the West Indies will be looking for a victory to square the series. Following are excerpts of his comments:

"Cricket is team sport and not an individual sport and you have to realize that you are creating pressure at one end and the wickets are falling at the other end and that's where Jerome (Taylor) comes in. I think we are a wonderful bowling combination."

Well put Colly. I agree. If only another pacer steps up to under 35 per wicket - let's hope Rampaul makes the jump like Taylor - we can hold our own against anyone. If another batsman steps up to 40+ - though I can't see any knocking hard - we can beat anyone.

"Obviously these tracks are not tailor made (no pun intended) for fast bowling. "

Tek that in you skunt unReadbarren.

I guess Corry is at the peak of his illustrious career. Such an event no doubt contributed to the fantastic reversal in fortune of the good ship "West Indies" and it's ability to dismiss our worthy opponents twice.

Colly and Jerome together getting the job done. They are both about 30 oer wicket. Everyone else is over 35. We need at least one more 30 or under guy. Preferably 2.

Narper Nov 25, 2006, 8:31:47 AM

Look ah fcukin fed up wid de without luck crap....let Collymore haul he lazy pretentious rass

When a batsman doan have luck he gets out or is given out by some shit head umpire

Look Sarwan is NOT struggling at the crease.....Sarwan is in de form of his life but not scoring runs....luck?

I have seen Lara STRUGGLING for form at the crease earlier on tour down under

Dem drop Sarwan skunt because he ent have 'luck'....every innings on this tour and the previous in Malaysia sarwan looked good until he got out

Collymore is not getting wickets...you need 20 wickets to win a game....'a miss is as good as a mile'.....neraly getting a batsman out doesn't cut it

I glad dem drop de skunt from the ODI squad

So drop Colly - 30 per wicket - and replace him with who? 40+ Best, Edwards? Pelter Lawson?

Noughtper and unReadbarren are two dolts indeed.

He is taking advice about bowling from a wicketkeeper, why not Gary, Denis Atkinson, Joel Garner, Wayne Daniel or Franklyn Stevenson.
These guys would help him to take wickets.

Darnley Boxill keep stats, so he helps him with his EC rate stat.

hewesleyb Nov 25, 2006, 8:44:57 AM

In reply to sabina With Bradshaw in the team Collymore is expendible (ODI) but picking Powell is a travesty. That Skunt has learned precious little since he first came along. Unless he has a breakout game on this tour his ass should be dropped for good.

Replace Collymore skunt wid new blood....he has been around forever....de lazy getting away wid hiding his injuries for too damn long

Look if dem drop Slo Mo I go be pissed.....Slo Mo getting wickets...and he can only get better...especially if de Capoo SHOW some confidence in him....like what Inzy id doing to Kaneria

sabina Nov 25, 2006, 9:01:07 AM

In reply to Narper

Drop 30 per wicket Colly and keep 50+ Slo Mo? Man you duncer than I thought.

And which 'new blood' will replace Colly? Richardson and Kelly who get slaughtered by English county B teams? Or rush back Rampaul and bruk him down again?

Man do you and unReadbarren think before you post this crap?

i don't usually agree with RB, but he is correct, Colly has been around too long, not to be taking wickets.
Since he cannot bat, is job is to take wickets, and he surely is not doing that.

I am glad he & Edwards are not in de OD team.
My hope is for bim to follow de selectors by not picking these guys, for any 50 overs series.

Replace him with who? And we talking bout tests here.

Allayuh name some names or shut up.

When your main strike bowler is not taking wickets, teams will make over 300 in 1st innings & 500 in 2nd innings.
Look man, it is up to Colly to work with bowling coaches that can help him.

Narper Nov 25, 2006, 9:23:52 AM

I keep pointing out to you dolts that the onley two actiev WI bowlers with a career wicket average under 35 is 30.7 Taylor and 30.9 Colly.

So who the hell you gonna replace Colly with?

Name some names or shut the fact up.

sabina Nov 25, 2006, 9:27:34 AM

In reply to Narper

None of these guys average even 30 against the English county B teams on that A team tour.

And you wanna put them into tests ahead of 30 career test average Colly?

Ha ha ha ha ha! Dunces to rass.

Narper Nov 25, 2006, 9:36:10 AM

In reply to sabina

So yuh stick wid Collymore fuh life????

Bring a new face or two.....expose dem....see what dem have

We KNOW what Collymore has.....and dat is NOTHING

This who 'we go put' syndrome seems like a typical backward WI mentality dat jus won't go away

GrimReaper Nov 25, 2006, 9:42:41 AM

How come McGrath is not afflicted with bad luck?

This brief interview confirms my long held belief that this courageous, lion-hearted, hard working young man is now fufilling the all important role of the leader of the West Indies bowling attack. It is the role that many of us hoped that Dillon would now be filling had his career developed as we hoped it should.

Never mind. We have Collymore. He may not be remembered as one of our greats, but like the lion hearted hero Ridley Jacobs before him, he will be remembered as simply the best we had at a particular point in our history.

Long live Corey Collymore, one of the relatively few young men left in the Caribbean who understands the history of struggle behind the mere existence of the West Indies cricket team. How sad that our society has at this point in time produced so few young men like him with sufficient reserves of pride, dedication and self-respect to learn how to bowl a line and a length before daring to don the sacred colours of West Indies cricket team.

Long live Corey Collymore.

Replace 30 test average Coly with 60 test average Bradshaw?

Ha ha ha! What morons!

hewesleyb Nov 25, 2006, 10:02:37 AM

In reply to openning I would play Bradshaw ahead of Powell in both forms of the game, test and ODI.

MGL......Collymore will be remembered for his injuries

Starting overseas tours wid injuries

I believe he has been DISHONEST wid his injuries over the years

Collymore will be remembered for almost taking de wicket

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Lion heart is one thing....and not delivering is another thing

He is a bowler....and he is not getting the wickets

hewesleyb Nov 25, 2006, 10:04:38 AM

In reply to Narper Point well taken but with Powell in as third seamer Collymore is safe.

Ha ha ha! What morons!

Which of the two are taking wickets? Ian had two good series in Asia, and he is bowling better than Colly.

If Colly was bowling like Mcgrath, there would be know arguement from me.

De selectors are smart, drop him for de ODI, next it will be test.

sabina Nov 25, 2006, 10:21:53 AM

"Sri Lanka 'A' 71-0 (Avishka Gunawardene 43 not out, Mahela Udawatte 20 not out)"

Colly's replacements bowling up a storm to rass!

carib Nov 25, 2006, 10:47:21 AM

Like it or not it looks like Colley is the man for now. Cant say I like it, though :(

We'll see what the A team bowlers do the rest of this game. If nothing special, then try Rampaul next match, please.

TanteMerle Nov 25, 2006, 12:59:50 PM

Narper:

De names ya cyan rememba is Bennett and Richardson.

But Sabina gats a point: De fact remain, we aint gat na bowlers.

We are Fcuked. We gat useless and inconsistent batsmen. We aintgat na team period. We are destined fa failure especially when Lara finally retires. Maybe it is time ta try Crandung, Fatso Kelly, or even darren Sammy.

I have to agree with you there....the fact that he is not getting wkts, suggests he is doing something wrong,

Cleg Nov 25, 2006, 2:05:42 PM

In reply to Narper

He is a bowler....and he is not getting the wickets

He his sharing `Taylor-made wkts` which means Taylor has to take 8fers instead of 5fers each innings for us to win a game.
