West Indies fast bowler Daren Powell, who came in for high praise from captain Brian Lara and who secured his best bowling figures in the fourth ODI against Pakistan in Multan said that he was impressed with his own performance. Powell, coming in for his first game, after a flu virus forced leading pacer Corey Collymore to sit out while Jerome Taylor was rested, picked up 3 for 33 from 10 overs.

He made the following comments on Thursday in Karachi as the team enjoyed a day off from training after the players spent most of the night traveling from Multan after the day night game: Full Story

Very good guy. He has good rhythm but needs to improve his stamina to bowl for long spells and in five day games. I also like his approach to batting - seems unwilling to give it up easily. And when he is flowing with the bat he looks pretty good. He needs to pick up a lil more speed and he will be up there with Taylor pretty quickly.

Overall, I have a very favorable impression of him.

Breds I was talking to the first lady last night. :lol:, and mentioned what I saw in him was a subtle confidence that I have never seen in him before. He looked sure of himself as though he deserved to be there and was goign to show why. confidence is the key

I am very happy for DPowell. This guy works very hard at his game and it is beginning to pay off..And I am glad Andy is in his corner bec the other Hex=crements over-looked DP for lesser talent.

Yuh right. And hopefully Lambert will steer the ship to victory again.Hinds is a good team player but, Cappo does not suit him.If he gets his batting together then....maybe but, Tammy should be Cappo w/ Gayle as vice.Or Visa Versa!

The only team that pose a real threat to JA is Guyana but, we make minnows beat us.When U look at JA line-up it very formidable,however they will have to translate that to game situation.Tammy should get the job.

it's all about rhythym. you can't just come over having no cricket under your belt and expect to bowl well straight up. you need to bowl and keep bowling. he has definitely got better as the tours gone on. he generated some serious pace at times the other night.

where's clokey? he's seen powell once or twice. surely he can make a better assessment

Im glad his cricket is improving. I was originally one of those who had my doubts ( frankly I still do).
Powell is known to be a hard worker and hard work has been know to fill in for a lack of talent. Steve Waugh is the classic example here.

So where is the improvement Darren??
