HEADLINE: New Books Coming from Lara, Rousseau

CaribbeanCricket.com Jan 2, 2007, 4:16:09 AM

Whatever your perspective, 2007 will change our cricket culture.

The Cricket World Cup as an event introduces new elements to the way cricket matches are planned. Concepts of merchandising, security, broadcasting, marketing and sponsorships will be enlarged by the intimacy of international attention. The legacy aspect will vary for each territory depending on how wisely they have invested resources, but one thing's for sure -- all will be left with upgraded stadia and equipment, and with care the physical structures can be transformed into truly nurturing spaces.

Hope he talks about how he ended up owning West Indies broadcast rights overseas. He did more for himself and the sidekick than he did for WI cricket.

It should be an abridged un-authorized version! Then the real truth would surely surface. But the psuedo Journalists in the Caribbean do not understand free-speech.The concept escapes them totally.

Wasn’t it the same Rose who wanted to "chook" Lloyd in "he fat belly", beat up Marshall because he “ain’t carrying no water”, threaten a white woman for making fun of him on retirement? Wasn't it the same Rose who spent all his allowance money on "quality" SA professionals and had to beg his teammates for some? The tainted Rose who wore sunglasses on his head and ran so that it would never fall off – that Rose? Rose was just blaming mad, an embarrassment, and an insult to all of West Indies Cricket – Only the Master Blaster could have dealt with him.

It seems that either you dropped out of Kindergarten or you are simply intellectually still-born, why do you keep harping the same kaka-hole nonsense over and over? Since when Lara running the WICB? If Lara was the reason that Harper, Logie and Waight left it simply means that the managers of West Indies Cricket were totally asleep at the wheel. I guess you are jealous that another short man carries much more sway than you on and off the field.

In reply to Chrissy Not fair. That was a period when broadcasting rights for cricket were in their infancy. nobody knew how far it would go. i know as fact that Rousseau shopped the Television rights for West Indian cricket around internationally and he was not getting any feasible responses. This is all circa '94,'95.

Some people's only purpose in life is to find fault with everything Lara does and perpetuate the one sided gossip. For years I have been saying that I am waiting on Lara to print his side of the story, and I am sure it will be very revealing.

Ah sure it will shut some people up, but then again, some people on this MB have made excuses for the inexcusable!

Ah could tell you one thing - there are more than enough former and current players who ENVY Lara's success on AND off the field, and therefore will always have a lot of negative things to say about him. But once again, Lara will win because his book will be more successful than anything any of them can do.

What did they do? I don't know - Chanderpaul looks quite fine to me-best I've ever seen him, will help us do well in the World Cup- For some time locals got the physiotherapist job- I feel quite good about that -even knew one personally - However, I think he was wrong to take the captaincy from Hooper, but then again, like Richards, when does a captain not say that a particualr player will never play again (unless they use a gun in the hotel room-and even he played, again?

jala Jan 3, 2007, 5:12:04 PM

In reply to dcbreds how do u define success eh? Laura has made plenty runs but he is not successful.it's like Iverson and Wade, one scores more points but the other scores, leads and has a championship.that's success.success is usinf your God given talent to motivate a team to achieve a greater goal.

Very interesting- tell me what do you think- Should you decompose individual effort from team collaboration and team synergy? When and how does someone motivate an entire team, with much diversity – Who motivates? -Does the captain do that? Does the best batsman play his part-is the motivation by words or actions as in modeling? Might a team have "substitutes for leadership" - Things in the team that motivates and leads them despite a poor or good leader? Is leading a team in conditions of challenge, "failing", or stringency different to leading a team that has success?

Sometimes people paint such simplistic pictures of constructs like team and leadership- phenomena that we do not fully understand as yet-And why do they do that? For their "hater" purposes - Like an oversized Cozier they mouth off because as if life and integrity are being threatened-

One man –the one who has made the most runs – it is he who is the cause of all this failing foolishness- A failure he is then like Tendulkar with men pelting they bat around him, never moving their feet as they confront Kaniera and Gul; with hooligans wicked and whore-mongering threatening fast bowling coaches like Roberts and Marshall – Is not that, is – what utter, mountainous rubbish..
