The first class cricket career of former Test wicket keeper Junior Murray might have come to a premature end -- with Windward Island cricket selectors not giving him the honored exit they promised.
Murray did not fly to Dominica with the Windward Islands team to play Barbados Saturday after the selectors apparently took a late decision to omit him from the team without discussing it with the captain, manager or coach.

All those nice tributes, how his WI career shouldn't be written off, and a couple of days later the selectors tell him to piss away off.
Irony anybody?
Gwaaaaan Kingie and Nagas and Dillon and who else?
Same conundrum....

Kami dropped Junior ... thus ending one
of the most illustrious careers in WI Cricket.
I fist saw Junior when he toured Jamaica with the
WI under 19. He kept up to the pace bowlers, &
we all knew he had spectacular reflexes. My eyes
brim with tears ... as I turn back the years to
keeper who was brave & who was fine ...Junior
Murray was his name ... I'd give up all my
wealth & fame, just to see Junior keep ... one more time ...
Kami leaking info for winward cricket? 8)

Wicked islanders- always some type of vindictive cruelness- As Abner said to one of Sauls sons, Is Junior Murray a dog's head to drop him like that?-Then they want to blame others about their selection predicament-They don't talk, they don't counsel, they just conspire in the darkness of the island breeze

Woman power :D
To camos
Thankfully, Kami don't have sources :)
In reply to Yadi Good post Hamlet...I could not have agreed more with Murray's statements. Sad day not only for Windwards but WI Cricket. Reminds me of Greenidge's poor treatment. WI modus operandi!!!!!
That's why Richards and Greenidge must allow their sons to remain in England and play for England because WI have a history of treating their players like dogs.
I suggest other players should consider migrating to other countries and play for them like Clayton Lambert, Andy Cummings, etc...or maybe Allan Standford can constitutionally organise an outside team.
The way Murray and others are treated tells you how we function as administrators from the senior board to the lowest rank..with no end in sight...(Very Poor)

Fi true. Kami runs tings

lol, allyuh trying to get the Grenada mafia to kill me? But seriously Windwards selectors real crappy in the way they handled this. There wasn't any need to humiliate the man. Loud stupes!
In reply to kami Let's hope they can swallow their pride and make amends and recall him. Never say Never!!!!!

Gwaan with yu powerful self girl

exactly.........and da dotties cry foul when stuff happens tuh dem.........stupse.
Rather unfortunate as Junior was a good servant for the Windwards. I saw him stump Roland Holder down the legside off of Ian Allen and I said dude had game.
I always felt that the bulk he put on improved his batting but it caused his keeping to go down hill.
No part of Windies cricket seem to know how to do things properly. Always a commesse
This is unfortunate happenings. I agree wholeheartedly with Juniors premise to allow the Youngsters to earn their places. If a 39 Yr old performing better than the 20 yr old why shouldnt he play?
What makes this worse is the way this forced retirement was done.... Dastardly!!! You just dont treat loyal Players who have given their all like this. What kind of precedent are we setting? How are other Players to feel?? Ridley wasnt forced out of Leewards like this. He was allowed to play until he called it quits. Even led the aggregates in his last Season.
Truly disappointed in Windwards Selectors!!! This is not the way to deal with Players!!
This is a hatchet job.Experience is a necessary ingredient to blend with youth.Junior Murray is good at providing that and should not have been cast away like that.I still groan over the demise of McGarrell in Guyana. Here is another player discarded before his time.
He would have been the right spinner for the World Cup.Age should not be a factor in dumping players;performance and value are better criteria.
Unfortunately, the legacy of ungreatful-ness is still with us. The WindWards selectors are learning too well from the West Indies selectors. Shame on those Dumb Skunts who have not the decency, not the commom sense and yes not the integrity to treat players who have given more to our cricket in one year than they have in their miserably lifetime.
Junior Murray has earned the right to retire from FC cricket if not on his terms certainly with dignity. As I said of Tony Howard and Joey Carew for not giving Ridley Jacob the option to retire with dignity shame on those colonial puppets. No class, what a bunch of jackasses.
Murray you have nothing to be ashamed of, thanks for your contribution to West Indies and WindWards cricket.
Wesley
Good riddance to old failure.
He did not know how to bow out gracefully, so he has to experience being dumped.
Let others take heed.

Ah shut yuh ol cantankerous skunt !!

Murray had way more use than the likes of Ganga. See if you can swallow dat.
In reply to redbaron I don't think you mean what you said. You are just looking for attention/confussion.
But don't play with our emotions, especially a sport that tends to pull us together as a people for years.
Murray deserves better and you know that...even some of his "so-called don't likes" here are accepting the fact...what makes you different?
Fact is fact and feeling is feeling..don't allow the latter to influence the first!
In reply to JahJah
Ganga was a better batsman than 7 years <40 average shit hound Gayle in 2006.
See if you can swallow that and live.
Chupid yardie JahJackass.

39 year old has-beens have no facting business keeping youths out of WI cricket.
WI team get new players from youth, not 40 year olds, and is time you fools understand that it's not about Fart Wards cricket, but about WI cricket.
Let Murray haul he MC into oblivion and let young people play.
And you could HYours too if you vex.

Bossman....don't blow a fuse over Reddotishinsulardicklessbaboonlikebuffoon yuh hear. He has a very one tracked mind. All he interested in is rushing to put nuff wet behind the ears Trinis into the Windies team.

Nuh laughing matter. You is di Mafia. You is the di Donrette of di Dotties. Welcome one and all to Bella Kamika. Dis is one woman to be feared.
Lara betta watch he back. He cud be next. Only ah couple ah strokes from dem deadly fingertips, and he gone.

Lol,that was hilarious
The bloodless hands
Radio Stations in the caribbean hosting calls regarding Murray's unceremoniously dropping from the Windwards's team.
Folks have expressed deep disappointment that the chairman of selectors J.J. has a serious beef with Murray...
The only way pride can be salvaged is if the Parent body WICB stepping in (if they have any influence in a situation like that) along with other regional board members and renstate Murray and fire the Chairman of selectors J.J.
Because the modus operandi is unacceptable. Just imagine the captain who is part of the selection process, the coach and manger were not even informed that he has been dropped.
I think it is time to bite the bullet and re-enstate Murray and discipline the main culprit.
This is just a reflection of the problem that we all face in this Caribean.
Total over reaction...No Planning...No repect for tradition and effort....
As I said before I think that Junior should give way...No problem there and everyone seems to agree..but its all about the manner and timing...stupid.
And kami have no fear..Many Grenadians shared your thoughts in the article. As a matter of fact we Grenadians are no better in handling so many of our issues. Its just the stupidity and lack of ceremony to everything we do.
In sports and so many other things in the region there is little thought, little compromise for almost anything there is one penality penality...Drop...Ban...the more hate and personal attacks involved the better.
Proof..we are a traumatized people.
In reply to Tagwa1
No fear here at all. Am sure when I go to Grenada this Easter that Junior will have a drink with Cheeks and myself :)
In reply to kami
Junior doh touch alcohol..so I have NO interest in tekkin no drink wid he. ![]()
You on de odda hand ...I wll drink pizen wid.
In reply to kami
Bloodless hands???
Dem hands looking kinda bleached to me.
How much soap yuh use ???
Junior Murray at 39 is still the best batsman in teh Winward Island team.
All ya shut de fack up:
Murray shood have tretired a long time ago.
If he was interested in WinI or WestI cricket, he shood a step aside an let a yute do de job. Al la C. Brung. Stop talking chite. Murray will neva meck de WestI side and afta all it is about West Indies not Winward Island cricket.
BTW: Tell mi who honestly tink dat Winwards will win a championship last year or dis year.
Murray, step de fack ASIDE, YA OLD FART.
I want Reifer, King, Dillon, Nags and all dem odds ediotts to teck a hint.
All dem really doing is keeping yutes out ah de reckoning and West Indies cricket suffering. Murray gats sum nerve ta mention Lara. Lara was kept out de side by de like ah Logie fa 2 years. Lara shoos have 15K runs by now.
De most ironic ting....
POINT de one does chastise WICB endlessly (righly so most times) and accuse de ress a de region of discrimination against Windwards players ecpecially.
He doh check de stench comin from he own home board doh.
Wonder if is coincidence he neva reach on dis thread yet?
In reply to TanteMerle
Get it right. Logie never keep Lara out no side.
Was Keith Arthurton. Never Logie.
Lara wasn't comin into de side to be no specialist emergency fielder.
In reply to imusic
Tanks fa de correction:
Couldn't rememeba de exact person.
But I no it was Viv ta blame.
Viv said dat no one will upstage him.
Lara was a threat.
