West Indies middle order batsman Marlon Samuels has been accused of playing a part in fixing the first One Day International between India and the West Indies in Nagpur on January 21, according to press reports out of India.

CaribbeanCricket.com has confirmed that police in Nagpur sent a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) offering "definitive proof" of telephone conversations between Samuels and bookie Mukesh Kochchar during which vital match information was allegedly leaked by the Jamaican batsman.

According to media reports, the Jamaican right-hander, who had a superb series with the bat, allegedly leaked information like pitch conditions, the West Indies batting order and team strategies.

Even the guys at cricinfo knew it was gonna be a belta:
Kishore Pradhan, the curator at Nagpur, reckons "even 300 may not be enough".

Is that all?

Are you serious?

If these allegations are proven it will likely be the end of Marlon's cricketing career.

One also has to wonder if the team strategies were relayed to the Indian team.

My sentiments exactly. All the aforementioned information can be gotten from any commentator, prior to the match. Why would someone fix a match and produce the way he did with both bat and ball. If anything, his figures would have been marginal.

wait...our team has a strategy?

The one thing marlon has going for him is that they do not have any evidence of payments being made. That would minimize any sanctions against him.

Regardless, the WICB will be under pressure to omit him from the squad for the WC.

We still adhere to the priciple of natural justice in the Caribbean.

Thankfully, the ICC has not yet be allowed to hijack our system of jurisprudence!!!
