If it is true I still don't understand why so many people are shocked. Marlon is a human and therefore very very fallible like we all are. It doesn't have anything to do with being West Indian and automatically assuming he made of better moral fibre than any other .

Does WI management have security personnel who lecture these players about the type of encounters they may have and how to conduct themselves if ever approached in any manner about team info, confidential or not?

There should be standard guidelines that players a reminded of especially before each tour. These unsavory characters are versed in the art of disguising their true intent and if you are not properly prepared they subvert you without you even know what u are doing.

I sincerely hope there is nothing to this; it would be a shame and a tragedy.

Well those of us shocked are more so by his alleged stupidity than his fallibility. India is known for these kind of match fixing/gambling fiascos - he has no place to be discussing any of this information with strangers. Even as harmless as the information sounds. The players are warned and advised of this constantly.

You seem very quick to pass judgement on Marlon here ..
do you have some information that the rest of us don't??

Batting line-up decided the night before?? Why would
they ask Marlon about pitch conditions anyway??

I dont know why any bookie would take the word of a WI cricketer when it comes to

Police has established a nexus between Samuels and Kochchar and say that the all-rounder had leaked information like pitch conditions, the West Indies batting order and team strategies ahead of the start of the match. Kochchar is also said to have links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Does WI have a standard batting lineup...It seems to change with every game and seems random...does Samuels even know what position in the batting lineup he would be batting at...

Team strategies...well its obvious to everyone that WI's strategy is to bowl first and attempt to chase any target whether 350 or 200...As for other strategies..maybe the bookies can actually help like to tell the WI team how to dismiss tail-enders...or how to chase a target without collapsing at the end..

But seriously, if Samuels was involved in match-fixing here, this is probably the end of his career...

Well he is about to learn a lesson about actions and consequences according to how the story plays out

Samuels, was quoted by Times Now, an Indian TV channel, as saying that he knew Kochhar but was not aware that he was a bookie.
