First of all I have to mention how pleasing it was to be named West Indies Cricketer of the Year for the first time. I have to give thanks to all of my teammates because it would not have been possible without them. I have to give thanks to all of the fans as well for all their support throughout 2006.

I believe 2006 could have been a better year but I still have to give thanks for what I achieved. I was very surprised to win the award because there were other players who did well during 2006 including Daren Ganga, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Brian Lara who also scored Test hundreds.

This quote by Crampy must me highlighted. The JCA must pay attention to that because it is saying a lot. Now, I hope Gayle has the spunk to go to management and put forth his views. He has earned the right to speak up and he should do just that on such a less-friendly wicket in addition to his flat track diary.

I think that is not Jamaica's problem. they really don't ahve a pool of talent. Plain and simple

True- clearly a very political diary entry-designed to suggest that he will stand up for the players against authority as Sarwan adn Lara are sometimes willing to do- I hope the players remember that this "want to be captain" can also quickly change his mind-This is not good for a Lara-less team- reminds me of the Kanhi-Lloyd rivalry after Sobers-Lloyd won and did excellently well-but it was wrong, the covetousness, desire and tears-I'm sorry the telephones of prime ministers worked then - :roll:

T&T. Our three top batsmen Parchment, Gayle

& Samuels were all back in the pavillion ...

before the first ten overs were complete.

Jamaica allowed T&T to add more than 150 runs in

for their last 2 wickets ... thus surrendering

a first inning lead of more than 100 runs. Then,

with Parchment taking the T&T bowling to task at

one end, Jamaica surrendered all ten wickets at the

other end for less than 150 runs.

Funny, BCL never pass up the chance to talk to try to get things fixed - more input in team selection, better suited pitches, more money for players etc.

I think Gayle did very well by gently highlighting an issue - I am sure he is a hero/leader among the players now and this little maneuver will do him a lot of good - in the players' eyes.

Parchment & Hyatt took us past the fifty mark without

loss. There was another stand before we lost

our second wicket. Then the flood gates opened.

Jamaica appeared to be losing wickets at a faster

rate than they could score runs ...

Can you imagine how your supporters felt.

It is one thing to go down with a fight ...

But a gutless surrender ... is totally unacceptable.

Serious- read Lloyd's own book - He felt he should have been made captain and went crying to the badurm president -badurm called Willie and Barrow (I think) - so tears brought the captaincy - However, it turned out well-

innings of fifty or more in all the matches combined.

Powell & Trenchfield both failed when given a chance.

Are the players failing ... because administrators

are threatening them, or is the failure a demonstration

Ravi jus a little younger. What is true is that Taylor is more physically adept than Rampaul. If Ravi ever finds a way to transcend that problem he will be a great option for West Indies as he has shown everything else

Taylor along with Lawson should be our New ball pair!

Buds only if you playing Windwards. The fact is most have average records for Jamaica. Barbados, Guyana and now Trinidad have been developing their batsmen to the point that now what used to be wasted talent from Youth Cricket like Dillon is now developed into outstanding performances at this level at least like Ganga.
