HEADLINE: 'Are You Saying It's a Murder?'

from MICHELLE McDONALD in Jamaica

The lobby of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica, was a hive of activity tonight, after a hurriedly called press conference announced new developments in the investigations into Bob Woolmer's death.

Deputy Commission of Police Mark Shield's announcement that Bob Woolmer's death was now being treated as "suspicious", after an earlier press conference said the pathologist's report was "inconclusive", has put this Cricket World Cup 2007 into a tailspin.

In reply to CaribbeanCricket.com And Shields response to the question "Are you saying its murder" was " I am not saying that".

I suspect that Sensationalism is rearing its ugly head. The Jamaican Police are doing a thorough job. They don't want to leave any stone unturned. The tests have been inconclusive so more tests are scheduled. 'Suspicious' to 'Murder' is quite a jump. Please be mindful of that.

I hope that no stone is left unturned in this investigation . If it is necessary for experts to be brought in to complete this investigation , then I also hope that determination will be done quickly.

In my opinion , there is a possibility that the whole Region may suffer from Bob Woolmer's death , during a Tournament that has Worldwide publicity .

There is no doubt in my mind that the sensational Tabloids in the world , will now send their journalists to Jamaica , for the sole purpose of getting scoops , true or false , to create sensational headlines and rake in mucho denerio .

They will have little or no respect for the deceased , or his family , nor for the work being done by the Jamaican Authorities . As usual , they are going to vie with each other to see who can produce the most sensational headlines for their Rags . In essence Fleet Street is going to have a field day .

I am honestly saddened that Mr. Woolmer has died , and I hope that this matter would come to a conclusion that COMPLETELY satisfys the Authorities .

The administrators of this board are being just as irresponsible and fool hardy by posting such a head line. Let the officials do their job before posting rubbish rumors and speculation.

Yes, that Headline is outrageous. Do better than that cc.com. In these kinds of situations one should be more conservative in their zest to capture attention. Change the headline, I&I beseech thee.

West Indies players had been advised to stay in their rooms with their doors shut, at least one player was seen in the lobby watching the replay of the New Zealand – Kenya match.

This is what makes us special .... we have a sense of humor. Good one Vijay.Don't be surprised if a Caribbean journalist describes the DCP as acting sheeplishly in WOOLmers death.

You're one of the few voices of reason left on here. Everybody else seems to be caught up in stupid speculation and suss. It started from the moment we heard Woolmer died, even before actually.

People were only too ready to speculate. The most unfortunate part is that the wild speculation has now been made headline.

As I understand it, if the cause of death is not conclusively proven to be natural causes, the police treat the case as "suspicious"

Let them carry on, no amount of reason will satisfy their cravings for suss.

I told Ryan it was murder from day one, but his reporting
only extends to the WICB, now maybe he will run along and
do some real reporting.
