Faced with empty stands and waning fan interest, Cricket World Cup 2007 today announced that fans attending ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 matches, starting with the Super 8s in Barbados and Grenada, will be able to come and go as they please from match venues.
While they will now be able to re-enter stadia on Match Days, they will have to ensure they are aware of the revised policy which will guide how this activity is undertaken.

What about all th concessionaires who paid a premium to sell in the stadium? What about redress for them. When people leave the stadium they'll go get cheaper food outside, which cuts into the concession returns. this is grounds for yet another lawsuit!!!

The excitement and revelry at ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 is expected to reach even greater heights with the announcement that fans can now bring musical instruments without applying to the Local Organising Committees (LOCs) beforehand.
Starting from tomorrow’s Bangladesh-South Africa match in Guyana, spectators can simply turn up on Match Days with their instruments and be given the approval as they pass through security.

It's a no-brainer move, once India got bounced and it was clear that local support was vital. It sucks that they took this long. Go re-read Yamfoot with Stephen Price and you can see how clueless/naive they were. Once England drops out, and the Barmy Army pulls out, they'll have to drop semifinal ticket prices. They should be proactive and do it now.

Brancker took a stand on principle, can u blame him. All jokes aside now but certainly more people should have been keyed in on wat would work here. People should have known which countries really support cricket.
People should have factored in dat da games were been shown on TV in countries dat were hosting da games. Dat should have been highlighted as a risk and a mitigation plan put in place to deal with it.
I would like to see the risk plan for this World Cup.

Listen Larr has a point , when fans can go outside it means that those who are allowed to sell inside may not earn as much money as they were making before this latest concession by the Authorities .
Mainly due to the fact that fans can now go outside and buy their stuff and come back inside .
Prior to the release of this restriction , sellers of goods had captive buyers , which is the essential point Larr is making .

Now only if that damn airline merger, now monopoly, would drop their prices between the islands the crowds would come back. Imagine having to pay close to US$300 to go Grenada from St. Lucia Almost 400 from Dominica and in excess of 200 from Barbados.

For the next World Cup or the Champions Trophy, I suggest the ICC sell its rights -for a fee to include players'packages and tournament prizes - to the host country leaving the latter to organise the Sponsorships, TV rights, stadia and the facilities and activities for the fans in the manner best known to them and their culture. Whatever revenue the hosts receive from sponsorship, TV rights and gates would be theirs to offset all costs including what is paid to ICC.
This way viewers around the globe would enjoy the cricket and the diverse cultures on show. Imagine how happy a Japanese would be to see English Fans drinking Hot Tea (in plastic cups) at Lords with Jacket and tie and those same fans jumping up and wining to the beat of caribbean music, beer (in plastic cups) in hand at Sabina. Ah mean, it really nice. Same game but different flavors.
