Let them give it to Ganga...no person has a right to the captaincy. Either he'll thrive or he'll crash and burn.

Sars just has to score his runs and keep working on his game.

In reply to Larr Pullo So you playing a non-player cappo?

Steeeuuuppps.

These guidelines eh mean jack.

Accountability in their terms means that they will all accept responsibility for whatever decisions WICB makes. However, it does not make them accountable to anyone outside of WICB.

They talk about stakeholders. Their definition of stakeholder does not include WI supporters.

So all they are really doing here is circling the wagons and strengthening the cabal.

Right now Ganga is a sure pick on the test team.

Whether he could retain that status under the pressure of the captaincy remains to be seen.

In reply to dcbreds I nominate you as ourt representative on the board. And if they give you a hard time about it, tell them you will have Ziks talk to them seriously.

Tell them not to mess with us fans cuz we also have an Inhouse attornet, surgeon, a few Drs. of internal medicine ( this is a serious threat for those who resist)
and a few psychologists as well.

In reply to Larr Pullo He is a sure pick for teh test team for how long? I would rather see him perform consistently for another 2 tours at least before making such a claim.

Remember how much a certain pick Hinds was that Fazeer was singing his praises as a leader?

Who will captain the ODI team?

Trust me, some of them have bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, pervasive development disorder, dementia and impulse control disorders. 8)

OK ah getting too techical. Suffice it to say that we have a set a crazy baldheads on the Board.

as far as i am concerned this is the most important point of the release, its not who is gonna be captain...its this:

5. Rationalising where necessary existing procedures and conflicts of interest.

i dont trust existing members of the board and its surrogates to do this on their own. that would be like the proverbial police, policing the police. make no mistake, this is about the feeding tree, the trough that the snouts have feasted in. so i am far from convinced that the existing board members can do this on their own. this is learned behavior. its difficult to unlearn without some mechanism aimed at inculcating the new behavior.

its very clear that moves are afoot to rebuild. how earnest are they? if ganga is elevated to skipper and reading between the lines id say that this is not as improbable as it first appeared - id say they are doing him a disservice because:
* The selection of a new Captain for the England Tour will be based on criteria agreed to among the Board, Cricket Committee and the Selectors. The appointment will be for a limited duration during which time the performance of the appointee will be closely monitored and evaluated.

whoever is appointed, my view is that he would need a full vote of confidence. one tour away from home in england is not a full vote of confidence. it is at best a limited endorsement. and in all probability the new cappo will not acheive instant results especially as he will be working with a new coach who has a new ideas and a new style. whoever is appointed that would be the real basket to carry water.

I shall inform COMMIE that we have an ally in you southward as you echo our sentiments almosts to the letter
Simply put...we have been hurt and horned and given bun too many times...this time around there shall be no more taking from the bank account of disappointment without making some serious long term deposits to our collective spirits.
Further...I am not surprised that they stalled to release all the necessary information today either.
I for one am looking forward to Brankers Lecture tomorrow.
At least the release claims to be addressing the conflicts of interest...just like a typical horner man...dey promise to never hurt you again...we shall see

Looks like Ganga will be Test cappo. Fat boy Sarwan better start running laps to qualify as ODI captain big grin

i only pose a very obvious question. how can they possibly do it?

i draw your attention to the following;

1. Confidentiality and public statements.
2. Principles of accountability – accepting responsibility for individual and collective actions.

there is something all together weird about those two. ryan and tony deyal (wicb marketing) have had a running battle on confidentiality of the board. well here ryan is vindicated...they have openly acknowledged they have a problem.

and here in #2, something totally foreign to boards traditional and historical way of doing things is suggested. in fact its foreign to caribbean life in general. so id say someone or some faction in the board is starting to raise the real issues?

it seems too, they someone knows that we will have wholescale changes for the tour to england (if it goes ahead).

Actually, given the problematical nature of both Sarwan & Ganga as captaincy picks, they are wise to make the captaincy appintment a short term one. NO One is really confident that either of those picks will work out.

Hey, at least they are TALKING about thse things. THats progress. Lets see what they come up with , before we condemn them.

but, let me asks you, whoever skippers wot type of results do you expect in england. its clear theres going to be names you and i would not think obvious picks, i expect with a new team, we are likely to fold in the tests. and we may win a game or two in the odi's. overall we are going to loose again.

if the cappo is gonna be evaluated closely then results will count. lets say for arguments sake they pick ganga. he loses and he has an iffy series with the bat.

wot then?

I wonder if Ganga were made captain-not coincidentally another compatriot of the incumbent president-we would have a pricipledoutcry against the manipulation of the process, by changing the criteria in midstream, to benefit a homeboy, we would have a principled denounciation of this travesty, by the same forces that objected to another president having two of his countrymen as captain while he was in office?

Just wondering......
