In reply to Larr Pullo I agree, but how do we fix it so that the next coach has one?

Actually give him power....don't just give him lip service.

In reply to Larr Pullo But like Ryan pointed out, BK had all teh power. He even had the magic wand on deciding who plays or not.

Surely that was more than enough power.

Goodbye & good riddance Bennett King. You didn't do the job that you were paid to do. Time for WICB to f-off with foreign coaches and look to the region for somebody to lead this hapless team. Only a West Indian can understand the mentality of West Indians, only dem can lick dem boys upside dem head when they don't perform.

WICB wasted all that money on rass King. He behaved like a tourist on an extended vacation ... no worries mon!

I wouldn't worry about answering idiotic questions, stop making idiotic comments, you should have your little pen taken off you. Here is your argument, the coach is not good(and that is mainly because he is a foriegner), okay well you are getting yourself a West Indian to coach the team. So using your rationale, that it is the coach and not the players who are at fault, you will win the series in England and most things after that!!!! Back up your stupid comments. Don't matter who is the coach of the West Indies at the moment, apart from a handful of players the rest are spoilt little boys who wouldn't last 2 seconds in a country that had more talented and dedicated players to select. Typical attitude it is the coaches fault. Go back to the comments made by Rick Ponting when he was talking to the media about Duncan Fletcher. The media said that he did wonders with the suprise ashes victory over Australia in 2005 and Ponting's comment "He didn't the players did." Right, he hit the nail on the head, the coach can only do so much and then it comes down to the application of the players. If he is such a mediocre coach as you say then why did LARA rate his coaching ability so highly, LARA has a little bit of world class experience, I would suggest a hell of lot more than you or have you successfully or even unsuccessfully coached an international team lately. I know KING personally and he put his heart and soul into attempting to drag WI cricket back up, he didn't succeed but all blame can't be placed in his lap. The players need to take some ownership, they were the ones bowling wides, dropping catches, and playing stupid shots to throw away their wickets. What sort of professional athletes complain that it is too hot whilst completing fielding training, what type of professional athlets go out till all hours of the morning drinking alcohol and partying when they are in the middle of the biggest event of their sporting careers. The problem is the players get paid big money, win, lose or draw and it is reflected in their terrible attitudes and efforts on the field.

Well clearly Ryan is not as knowledgable as he makes out because BK was part of a selection PANEL and did not have the magic wand on who played or not. Ryan's comments are just vitriolic rubbish. Just sit back and watch what happens when the next sucker comes in and has to try and straighten out these spoilt little boys.

You wouldn't have a clue what BK did behind the scenes, the fact that he refused to make his arguments or whinge about things to the media only goes to show hhis level of maturity and professionlism. Unless he rubbishes everyone publicly he is immature is that what you are saying? Go and away and grow up yourself.

Goodbye and good riddance to your type of person, he will come home to Australia and have a stress free life and laugh his head off when he watches how the next coach flounders with the underperforming team of spoilt overpaid players. In fact we all will, the only shame is that people like you are allowed access to computers at whatever mental institute it is that you live in. I have been to the Caribbean twice whilst BK was coach and most people that I spoke to thought that he was doing a great job considering WHAT PLAYER TALENT HE HAD AT HIS DISPOSAL. But there will always big small minded fools who hide behind computer consoles, go out and make a difference then if you are such an expert. HAHAHA. Come back to Australia BK and get involved with PROFESSIONAL sports people. No suprise with our attitude, we are the best at cricket and many other sports, not afraid of hard work.

So who's next in line to take the poisoned chalice?

With the tour only 2/3 weeks away it might be a local coach in temporary charge.

I think with the players lazy attitude, most coaches are going to have problems with the team.

King hasn't taken the Windies forward, but he can't be held accountable for the problems the Windies currently have.

Ryan not so smart, don't take what he says too seriously...

Only other fools like fuzzy-logic will blv that crap.

In reply to furry Flurry of fury..Funny how people keep blaming BK because he got big bucks...Yet the same set of people support the "player power" and big bucks for players while not saying an iota about players' accountability and commitment to improve

I understand your anger, but really Ryan is not excusing the lads at all. He is on record saying they are a mediocre bunch. He just happens to think that the coach and overall management is also not good enough.

While I do not agree wrt BK not doing a good job, I find that the same people who are pointing the fingers at BK are also making the opposit excuse for Brian.

Which is it? If BK is culpable, then Brian and Lloyd are also culpable. What exactly are their roles wrt discipline etc.

The players have shown indiscipline, but should we consider the circumstances under which they have been playing and paid?

Do you think the disputes had any impact? Do you think that the players are under pressure to play for themselves rather than the team when you consider that they could be dropped at the drop of a pin? Consider these questions in your all encompassing claims.
