by DR RUDI WEBSTER
One would have thought that by now West Indies supporters had become immune to the failures of their team. But this is not the case.
Since the World Cup, the mood in the region has turned nasty and supporters are expressing great anger, disgust, and animosity towards the team and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). Many of the supporters and stakeholders are now engaged in adversarial thinking and acrimonious fights. It is in that context that adversarial thinking and its antidote, design thinking, will be discussed.

HEADLINE: Wanted: Steady nerves, cool heads
dcbreds, I see Dr. Rudi addressing some of the posters on this MB. Do you know who he is talking about?
It really has been like he has been reading this board fi true!
There are many people and some cricket experts in the West Indies who do an excellent job of criticising just about every aspect of West Indies cricket. But when they are asked to articulate comprehensive solutions, they are usually very silent.
On this board?
No, Never!!

When there is a cancer found , then it obviously must be excised .
THE CANCER IN WEST INDIES CRICKET IS THE WICB , WE MUST THEREFORE BE RID OF THE PIRATES .
Dr. WEBSTER , please tell the general Public what the WICB has done in 2 decades to make our team competitive , and improve Cricket in this Region . GIVE US TANGIBLE EVIDENCE .
Do you call fighting with its own players a sign ???? .
Do you call having no fitness Trainer a sign ??? .
Do you call having no Transparency a sign ????
Do you call having no Accountability a sign ???
Do you call no Term Limitations for its members a sign . ?????
Do you call not Publicly issuing a 5 year development a sign ????
DO YOU CALL A PRIVATE ENTITY COLLECTING 104 MILLION DOLLARS OVER 4 YEARS AND THE PUBLIC NOT KNOWING WHAT AND HOW THE MONEY IS GOING TO BE SPENT A SIGN THAT THE WICB IS GOVERNING CRICKET IN THE REGION VERY GOOD ????
With all due respect , surely you jest . Let me also say that the Charlatans who masquerade in this Region as Sports Journalists are just as culpable as the WICB in the sad sorry state that West Indies Cricket is in . THESE ARE THE TWIN MONSTERS THAT HAVE OUR CRICKET IN RUINS .
Let me repeat one of my standard lines : cricket in this region cannot improve until and unless there is a major restructuring of the WICB or a new Entity assumes the Governance of Cricket in the Region .
This aint about cool heads when the paitent is dying from Cancer , this is about getting rid of the Cancer that has the paitent currently on life support systems .
When things are wrong it must be stated , and correction methods taken to correct mistakes made .
Having the WICB IN CHARGE IS A MISTAKE SO CORRECTIVE MEASURES
MUST BE TAKEN .
BTW , the WICB closed down the Cricket Academy in Grenada , where you once were , is that a sign of its capacity to improve
Cricket in the Region ????
Please dont let me be deafened by your silence .

I think he put that sentence in specifically for you.
Who is Dr. Webster addressing with his piece, the posters on CC.com? what influence do they have in shaping WI cricket?
Trapped in the past or free ourselves and move ahead
Shouldnt he be addressing the 2 or 3 people with influence and the ability to set policy at WICB and say here is my blueprint on how to solve the malaise, its a path out of the wilderness.
The unfortunate and sad thing is that there is no altruistic independent thinking within the WICB, every decision has a egocentric motive influence by territorial kinship or selfishness.
I think the biggest mistake WICB made with the Bennett King deal was not allowing King and his team to be the sole selectors of the WI team while they were in charge.
I don't think you can have one without the other. To advance forward, one must learn from and correct the mistakes of the past. They're intertwined. The problem is too many miss the forest for the trees.
Caribbean Unity - Black Stalin LISTEN HERE
[verse 1]
You try with a federation
De whole ting get in confusion

But some how ah smelling disaster

And how come you cyah unite 7 million
When ah West Indian unity, I know is very easy
If you only rap to yuh people and tell dem like me, dem is...
[chorus]
One race (de Caribbean man)
From de same place (de Caribbean man)
Dat make de same trip (de Caribbean man)
On de same ship (de Caribbean man)
So we must push one common intention
Is for a better life in de region
For we woman, and we children
Dat must be de ambition of de Caribbean man
De Caribbean man, de Caribbean man
[verse 2]
You say dat de federation
Was imported quite from England
And you going and form ah Carifta
With ah true West Indian flavour
But when Carifta started running
Morning, noon and night all ah hearing
Is just money speech dem prime minister giving
Well I say no set ah money, could form ah unity
First of all your people need their identity, like...
[chorus]
[verse 3]
Caricom is wasting time
De whole Caribbean gone blind
If we don't know from where we comin'
Then we cyah plan where we goin
Dats why some want to be communist
But then some want to be socialist
And one set ah religion to add to de foolishness
Look ah man who doh know his history
He have bought no unity
How could ah man who do know his roots form his own ideology, like...
[chorus]

And YOUR recommended solutions are???????????????????
You are no different to those whom you accused of criticizing Windies cricket. Anyone can reguritate the problems, so get off your lofty ideals and plant your feet firmly on the ground before coming in here pontificating the obvious.
