I guess you are one of the guys that sat on their armchair and shaked their head at beckham.

Not at all!
:)

Beckham can't make the England team again, so he might as well rake in as many endorsements as he can....

You may want to believe that Hooper wasn't pushed aside but he was indeed pushed and in the words of the man himself "It felt like looking at a loaded gun"
This all happened because lara campained for captaincy although he said previously he never wanted it again. You know when the fox couldn't get the grapes he said it was sour.

Lastly again I refuse to agree that the players never respected lara,it's just that he was equally insubordinate as his team.
But I wil never question his commitment to batting because he was obsessed about breaking/setting records.
Follow de leda.

Some of these sad staements worry me- are you from the Caribbean - insubordinate? Lara? Listen, during Viv's reign, what do you think? The Board has never been perfect, even good- Didn't youy understand that what was Gordon was trying to tell you - how sad, that a myth morphs into a reality. FC led the way in fighting the establishment as well- Maybe we should start a WIBC-BL group - All in the LHC immediately qualify evil

Yes bro I am from the Caribbean, don't worry about the name and finally we need to face and facts and accept them as they are if we want to move forward.
I am sure the WICB was never perfect and never will be but with that said in the past with the same imperfect board we did better as a team and region in this beloved sport of ours.
Again I would like to reiterate the players need to adjust their attitude and approach to this game immediately.
N.B.
I deliberately did not mention the name Lara because it seems to make some of us very defensive although I've never said any offensive about the man nor disrespected his skill and expertise in anyway, shape or form.

In reply to dcbreds I like how youresponded to dravid's first post.

It is no secret where Lara's heart lies. He is all homeboy bound. Remember his Foundation? Many youths are benefitting and many in need of operations even abroad are seeing better days.Arrangement is being made for Schools to visit his home to view his Stock in Trade. That will be awesome. He would play a big part in the Sporting Complex at Tarouba - a huge influence on the nation's youth.

He has already met his Prime Minister to whom he has outlined his plans for service to his country and especially the game cricket. Dravid must get himself au courant by reading news from Lara country.

Concerning Lara's comment on Twenty20: He said his first love is Test Cricket and he would like to preserve his body at his age for that discipline. He did mention though that Twenty20 brings excitement to the Fans and if it is bringing them out to the various grounds, then it should continue.

Well, now that he was no longer required in the Test Arena, he is quite smart enough to go where other smart and sensible ones are willing to use his expertise and his fame. He will be paid and they would gain. According to Debreds, WICB never marketed the Legend simply because they were too dunce to know that they had a legend on their hands. They were never respectful enough towards genius. According to him, the WICB missed the principles of integrity and technology. India is not missing the boat and I agree for him to set sail.

Sail on Lara - you de man of the hour. More people around the world would watch him on Zee TV than the Windies play even Aus at home.

He will be paid handsomely and note without any wars on match tour contract - Hallelujah!

They failed to realise the gold mine that Lara was for our game. And they have made every attempt to sully his character. Fortunately, most people around the world did not buy it cause they know otherwise. Lara is respected AROUND THE WORLD and will be welcomed in every country.

He was never crass about other countries and never disrespected his own players. He attacked WICB with justification tho.

,

I would rather you speak the truth and be honest about mr lara man.

Richie richardson and Cuddy Yes?
Others like ridley spoke of lara`s effect. lara vs franklyn rose et al.
How could you make a statement like that DC?

You refuse to speak about mr waite, umpires, groundsmen who suffered too.
So please be onjective boss.

Mr Lara is a legend as a batter but recall he was booed in OZ?
Recall that after the Trinis were eliminated from WC footie irate fans said Yorke, lara and latas should be banished to a whorehouse?

So obviously Mr lara was no angel but in can be annoying when people try to paint a picture he was otherwise. Same applies for warne yes? legendary but controversial as was maradona.

Recall lara isn`t exactly ambassador Walsh.

Lets keep it real no man?

I wouldn`t say samy or gayle are ambassadors either and are above criticsm. Don`t let insularity cloud your judgement man.

Frangella should agree with me on this one.

What a pile of crap. Lara criticised any of these players when he was captain? In fact, I cannot remember Lara attacking any cricketer even when he was not.

And allyuh does only post one side. What about Lara's side of the stories? Why don't you post what they all said? Why not post what people like Banks and Browne said? Even Crossy tried to get Lara to respond to the criticisms and he refused, because he did not want to stoop to their level. But he has his side of the story too, but allyuh so biased allyuh eh care about the second and third sides to the stories.

Yuh know what? I fuhget who I am talking to. Go head, multiple. Say yuh crap. I eh have time fuh yuh lies tonite.

Come on DC do better. Who was it that told Richie Richardson that just like how het got rid of dennis waite he would get rid of him too?
But if lara publicly disrespected umpires and groundsmen who could be his father, why wouldn`t he disrespect players of his age who he had conflicts with?

Lara may not want to respond since he knows its true.

Lara alos went into OZ players dressing room, must have done wrong why he was booed by oz fans. OZ cappo called him an antogonist et al.

So come on DC. Not giving lara a hard time but pointing out where he fell down and it will be futile for you to try and paint a picture as if lara is an angel man.

Its even said that he even undermined logie when logie was tnt cappo.

Come on DC, do better man.

Once again, you continue to post lies, rumours and innuendo. I am really tired of you guys doing this all the time. I know the truth in a lot of these situations and, quite frankly, your statements are sensational and overblown at best. Of course he had disagreement with players but HE never made them public, esp those times he was right. And you won't here about those because those who were wrong were ashamed to make these events public.

I could say more, but I am beginning to realise more and more that trying to provide facts on here is more the exception than the rule. No one ever called Lara a saint but I know a lot od what he did and did not do. But if believing what you wrote makes you feel good then go right ahead. The other side will come out in due course. I will await your reaction then.

In reply to Kurt The Zee Venture is much different from Stanford's in that Zee has world Stars in spin and fast bowling, batting and even the genius of a living legend. Because of their credibility to the game Zee has to pay them handsomely just to appear whereas Stanford did not pay his minnows for appearance.

More people would watch this Zee TV game than the ICC games. People love stars not apprentices.

I actually read it in the media where lara told the WI cappo that he would get rid of him as he would with dennis waite.
This is not stories made up.
Deal with it.

Saying he was disappointed he wasn`t cappon when cuddy was cappo was also a disrespect to the legendray cuddy too.
Cuddy protected him from boos at bina too. Its alos clear Richie ain`t happy with him. And the situations regarding him mand sammy and Rose maybe worse than we can imagine. so don`t come with that dc. if lara didn`t disrespect his elders publicly, you would say its a lie too.

You must lear to accept the truth DC, espcially when its steering you in the face.
You have disappointed me DC.

publicly disrespecting elders even supersedes vdirespecting players in private

I could live if you are disappointed. I just do not buy your lies and rumours. You also do not post all the facts. But, as I said, I will not try to persuade you.

However, I will await your response when ALL the facts come out. Why do I say that? Cause I know more of the facts than what you posts on here. And of course you are quoting from lies so are posting lies.

I am not disappointed tho, cause I expect nothing better from you. You are only too willing to post stuff even when you do not have FULL KNOWLEDGE. I will save this thread tho, cause I want to bring it back to remind you of the crap you posted.

In reply to dcbreds You taking on garyg? You have time. Garyg is subjected and one track minded.

Debreds, as you would know, genius is obviously out of the ordinary. These are people who do not think like you and me. In the Legend's case, his game was part of his own inner make up - his aptitude was born from his attitude. In a genius, one cannot divorce output from input. There is no space.

We on the other hand, as Fans, cannot like those boundaries from good balls, the risky friskies and fiesties and at the same time want him to be this calm thick skinned person who will bow the hat everytime Sir, Mam, Thank you Lamb and Jam. Then we would have only limitations like we are in ourselves. Remember, this is a man who surpassed the great Viv Richards who himself said the Legend 'is greater than I ever was.'

Lara's personality is one and the same with his batsmanship. It made and continues to make his batsmanship. He is thin-skinned, so the impetus for the gully shots; he is confident in his risks, so the placement to the boundary; he knows the genius within, and so when riled up he is apt to teach you a lesson - Waugh, dont mess wid meh head, take dat - bam, down to de boundary and off he goes gardening, wilfully ignoring the pains on the bowler's face. Hit him on his head: What? You mad, he will quietly (cunningly) take his guard and bam, next ball, go field it in the boundary. That is the entertainer. But no, garyg wants a priest not a genius. You cant have both. The only priest who ws genius is Jesus Christ.

Lara has a very strong personality borne out of his confidence to take the chances and he therefore cannot understand mediocre attitudes. Such gets him mad and he would react to such and to the indiscipline that goes with it. But garyg wants him to pamper the players. Have it your way garyg. He has gone from the likes of you and is in places where he is adored.

I am so happy for him.
