HEADLINE: KKR might pull out of IPL if Narine is not allowed to play: Reports

With just nine days to go for the start of the eighth edition of the IPL, there is controversy in the air. The defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders are on a collision course with the BCCI regarding offspinner Sunil Narine's participation in the tournament.
Narine was banned for his suspect action during the 2014 Champions League Twenty20 and he could not play in the final against the Chennai Super Kings, which KKR lost by eight wickets . He was not picked for the West Indies tour to India in November and he opted out of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. He modified his action and was cleared by the ICC during his biomechanical test in Loughborough. However, in Narine's case, the ICC did not organise the test as he was not called during an international match. He was called during the Champions League Twenty20, a tournament that is run by the BCCI. According to the rules in the BCCI, since he was called for a second time, he was banned from bowling in any BCCI-organised tournament.

Why did they have to clear anything?

They didn't have to clear anything. But he went to them to get tested. And they approved his action.
The question still is when did the ICC clear his action?
Edit:
It kind of says it here:
However, in Narine's case, the ICC did not organise the test as he was not called during an international match.
Narine got called in CL.
He on his own dime went to ICC to get cleared.

Narine has been fervidly protecting his action since the Champions League last year. He paid for his own tests and is on a secret rehab mission except for his experiment against Guyana in the 50 overs final to see where things are. WICB not being involved is by his choice and not a knock on the board.
Now Narine is a West Indian and it is never lost on his own West Indians to call him a cheat, pelter etc
. not that they are wrong. So if every team except maybe T&T in the local competitions think that he is not clean then why would he believe that all the teams in the IPL will be smiling with glee and roll out the red carpet for the 2015 edition?
Its like saying that West Indians are too smart so I will not try that here but the Indians are stupid so I will go there and screw them out of their rupees
.
Let's see who has the last laugh. It will be interesting....

I am really surprised that KKR is willing to stand behind its player to this extent... This action makes me get a grip on why players respect the IPL franchises. Not all but some. CSK, KKR, RCB, MI hold on to their players big time.

Narine should have played some regional 4 day cricket if he was sure his action had been fixed. Since he didn't, the IPL can claim that he himself admitted after his last competitive match that his action still needed work.

He was not even called by ICC Nick. When they had not called there is no reason for them to clear him either. But he did take some test before the WC and the test came out positive is what was said.
I dont care if he plays of not after he had rejected representing WI in the WC. Still surprised that KKR had taken such a huge risk for 1 player...

Why wouldn't they? He effectively won them 2 championships on his own. And they are so mediocre when he is not in the team.

This to me is like cutting the suit to fit the clothe, it would be reasonable to say this is "unbelievable" that KKR would consider leaving if they don't get their way but it just goes to show how adulterated everything has become with this much money in the game.
Cricket except for a few choice battles i.e. the Ashes, English, Australian and South African tests is unappealing to me. It was not right that England a minority in cricket circles held on to the power for so long, but now that India has it there are slowly destroying this game.

Pacy I know he was not called by the ICC; it was during the CL.
He modified his action and was cleared by the ICC during his biomechanical test in Loughborough.
That is in the article. When did that happen? You know the date?

Shah Rukh the owner of KKR is that type of guy. He is a stand up kind of guy.
It is nothing to him to NOT play this year because he owes the CPL one for banning him from certain stadiums awhile back.
Backing his player is what he is about and NARINE is not an indian. go figure. By indian I mean by birth(motherland)

I dont know if Narine 'pelts' in the true sense of the word but I believe that the umpire who called him in the CPL may have been influenced by the prior call. I would like to know if that UMP ever stood over a Shillingford game.

Narine is a prime investment for KKR.
It may all be bluff but they have to try something. Without him their chances of success is seriously diminished.

I agree but it's not that simple. For some reason international umpires rarely "call" pelters. Square leg umpires have the best view but I can't tell you the last time an umpire no-balled a bowler for chucking.

According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, the BCCI has refused to accept the report submitted by the ICC and has insisted the offspinner undergoes another round of testing at the Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai.
BCCI greater than the ICC?
Calling for further testing at their facility , he went and got tested at an ICC facility.

That right there is the main issue........he is banned from any BCCI-organised tournament, if the BCCI doan want him, no one can make them......it is like the BCA saying that he cannot play in the Bim tournament, no one can make them allow him, not the ICC not TTCB, no one......if any kissing and making up is to be done, it is with the BCCI, because the ICC cleared him doan mean squat to the injuns......they say he must satisfy them by being tested at the Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai...... go and be brave, take the tests, if he get past them he in like flyn.

So if he is clear and clean according to the ICC tests then why not go ahead and do the BCCI one? There is nothing to be afraid of and since that will be the test that determines his bread and butter he should be the one down on his knees begging them to do it.

Because some people stand up for what they feel is right.
How would you feel if you had to take a state mandated drug test and then your employer was not satisfied with the results and wanted you to take an in-house test?
Even if you are clean I would not fault you for refusing it.
I would also tell you find someplace else to work. No sense fighting to be part of a bad organization looking to victimize you.

What if the employer have house rules which must be followed regardless? Maybe driving around Chennai with your British licence is not allowed... or is it?

The calling of Narine after all those yearz waz a planned thing by peeps in BCCI circles ut seems. They waited till the semis - why? With India's known corruption through gambling and bookies, do you guys think that call was really in the interests of play or some very influential guy/s betting big on a certain team, then naking sure Narine gets tossed? All sounds sinister to me.

What you say is true.
Note that if you have a suspect action in an ICC tournament you must be tested before you are banned. Not so with BCCI who banned Narine on the basis of umpires reports with the naked eye.
I remember that BCCI were annoyed that the only approved testing was in England and Australia and they insisted Chennai be approved?
Clearly KKR suspect a conspiracy and Narine is only following their advice.so now BCCI refuse to accept a written report from an Icc approved facility? Very strange indeed.
And recall exactly how many posters here said Narine is a cheat and a pelter and you will see how hatred comes before cricket for so many of the small minded posters on this board whose insularity is more important than truth.

the initial post on this
You all may want to exist in this wonderful world where Narine is a victim of a conspiracy which starts with him never pelting but it isn't so.
Narine and his camp made a choice not to have the WICB handle his situation which also means they could control the disclosure. It was a wise move.
Now he has passed his retest you all suddenly want to play like this is where it begins.
The crux in the end is that he will play. Very few bowlers have been unable to pass the test in lab conditions. The issue is whether he will be able to continue bowling without being called again.
