Chandrika Can ...
In reply to Raggs
Even Samuels can bat. So what?
In reply to romanticking
true but i'm normally half asleep when he is at the crease. just watching the highlights and he does handle his willow with authority.
In reply to Raggs
Yes he can. They need to persist with him.
My other two guys are Paint and Blackwood.
Chandrika, Paint and Blackwood are the three I will definitely stick with.
In reply to Raggs
He has a pretty solid technique, but it's very very hard to learn to bat long in test cricket.

needs some confidence. he is a good bats.
In reply to Raggs
he has one good quality, he is always trying to better his last score and he is spending time at the crease.
You follow this forum long enough and you are thoroughly entertained.
Chandrika went from being a no talent, bad regional average, no potential quota pick to a person we need to persist with?
The lesson is the people involved in cricket know what they are seeing but it is up to the individual to come good.

Nick2020, go back and check all my post and you will see that Chandrika is one of the guys I personally identified having some potential.
The other two guys I have always had a liking for is Paint and Blackwood so don't come here skinning yuh teeth wid yuh snide remarks.
I saw Chandrika batting as a youngster and I liked what I saw.

The individual develops himself?
In reply to Star
Waiiiit star you ain't de only one posting in here.
In reply to imusic
Yes.
In reply to nick2020
Disagree.
The individual puts in the work. He doesn't develop himself.
he needs to eat some more meat and power food lol
In reply to romanticking Initially, they were criticising his Test selection....from his FC scores to pacifying shiv`s ardent fans, etc.
In reply to BeatDball
his selection to the WI was questionable...his record does not suggest he has earned a place
but in this test match he's shown some courage
do not mix up the 2 things
In reply to imusic
You asked me an either or question.
And I disagree with your position as well. The coach instructs and guides outside of the game but when that cricketer walks out of the pavilion it is all on him.
But none of this has to do with my position that I stated.
So in the context of Chandrika, the people involved in cricket probably saw that he is capable of playing at the next level despite what some of the people on this board thought. Both your position (direction) and my position (production) play a part on that player being successful.
In reply to nick2020
Have you ever come out on this board in support of Chandrika?
Or is your position one that whoever is selected for West Indies has your unconditional support as you are completely support the selectors?
In reply to imusic
No. But I have said in the past that the selectors see more of the players than we have. This is the exact reasoning I have used to support one player that the board has attacked frequently.
Shannon Gabriel.
Good luck with your witch hunt.
In reply to imusic
No, whoever the board selects does not have my unconditional support but I have said in the past that I support a certain player being picked that the board has said does not even know how to hold the ball properly.
Shannon Gabriel.
In reply to nick2020
You sayin you a witch?
In reply to nick2020
I am not sure about that.
In reply to imusic
I am saying you are better at being vague, sarcastic, and cynical.
In reply to methodic
That I have said that in the past? That is a job for Courtesy.
That the selectors see more of the players than us? If that is untrue that is a damning allegation.
In reply to nick2020
Convenient amnesia? You forget Chief of selectors don't even know players he recommending?
Perhaps you missed that interview
I still feel that his selection was and is questionable....its up to him to prove us doubters wrong.
In reply to imusic
He is representative of all selectors at all times?
Oh good God.
In reply to nick2020
I'll read AND spell for you since you playin DUMB and feigning indignation same time
He is the Head selector. He represents all the selectors. When selection issues arise....nobody going to Browne, or Walsh, or Baptiste. They going to Lloyd.
If Trump is elected US President you think people will divorce his comments from the American people as a whole?
Drop the act and get real for once dude
In reply to imusic
I must agree with you, some of us have been following these guys from the U-13 level, we follow the progress of these youngsters.
Llyod and his fellow selectors are picking on potential, after one good regional performance.
Chandrika is known to us from his U-17 days, but he failed to score runs at the regional level, like two of my other favourites, Kraigg and Barath.
In reply to imusic
Well what you did really well is take a snapshot of information and broadly applied it the process. Something that you would see from the average person or someone who is trying to pull a fast one on someone.
What are you saying?
The Chief of Selectors never knows who is being picked? OR
The Chief of Selectors is the only one who is picking players?
Because none of what you said or can reference says that to be true.
What we do know is there is more than one person involved in the selection process. If I recall correctly there are 5. So your reference is not what you are trying to represent it to be.
In reply to Raggs
From what I've seen in this test - he can progress to be an adequate player given time.
This would be the first time in his life that he is facing quality bowling consistently and he has shown a tendency to fight.
Question is - if he would get the time. Bottom line - he is averaging under 15 after 3 tests and six innings
In reply to dax
Uh.. the man got a call up to AUS after his previous inns. And he did better so they have time for him.
In reply to openning
KB has failed at Regional level? Really??!!
Oh yoh mean he must score 209 each and every innings like Lara did every year at regionals, or Dessie or Viv?
In reply to Scar
openning is a big KB fan. He meant unlike.
In reply to dax
Fight is one thing I agree but fight with 50 plus is better. Others with less so called technique have done just that fight and 50s but got dropped. We shall see.
I like OZ new approach-a bkazing away opener to maybe get the opps best bowler off. Specially if he goes for 4/5 per. WI currently has no such so it will be 2 batsmen fighting to survive, scaring no one
