I never noticed that obesity was an issue over there. Then again, most of my time was spent checking out all the lovely ladies and the peacock makeup they like to wear.

Yardies eat big people food. Jerk pork, jerk chicken, plantain, dumpling, cassava, yam, ackee and saltfish.

I think Trinidad and Barbados have way too many fast food joints. Barbados especially.

Anytime the English-speaking Caribbean is included in these lists, which include the rest of the world, I take it with a grain of salt. It's always going to be misleading when you're dealing with small islands/small populations, and the statistics are being looked at from a per-capita standpoint.

Somehow they didn't make the list. Perhaps the folks responsible for ascertaining the information failed to make their way down to that beautiful South American paradise.

These numbers must change from year to year. I've seen a study where Mexico was #1 and the U.S was #2.

yup it is an issue. Outsiders will probably be surprised to know that FEMALE obesity is more prevalent here than male. Female obesity is the reason TT is in the top 20!

Damn, when I was growing up in Bim, nearly everyone was skinny; eating from the “fat” of the land, plenty fish, hard work and nuff running about.

Now, it’s TV, computers, fried chicken, driving cars and few kids running around entertaining themselves. Makes for a fat Barbados.
