ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The Selection Panel of Cricket West Indies announced changes to the Windies squads for the three-match One-Day International series and the three-match T20 International series on the Tour of New Zealand. These changes are due to injuries and unavailability.

ODI SQUAD
Sunil Ambris ruled out with a fractured left arm. Will be replaced by Shimron Hetmyer
Alzarri Joseph ruled out with a back injury. Will be replaced by Sheldon Cottrell
Marlon Samuels ruled out with an injury to his right ring finger. Will be replaced by Chadwick Walton

T20 SQUAD
Samuels will be replaced by Shai Hope
Sunil Narine unavailable due to personal reasons. Will be replaced by Ashley Nurse

Although different formats, Cottrell couldn't take a wicket for Red Force in his 2 matches and was dropped

Soldier can't bowl fast for long.. Could manage a quick 4 over spell in T20.. after that his pace drops big time..

The Selectors might be doing a disservice to both S Hope and Blackwood. However in order not to develop bad habits I hope Hope does not make the final eleven in the T20 match.

WI need to cut out this foolishness about different setup for ODI's and Test Cricket. There is not sufficient quality cricketers in WI for such a setup. One team, very few changes. Ring in the changes for T20. The players need to play more cricket at the international level and the only way to to that is the core players play both formats else we will get stuck in both formats.

This squad seem very bowler heavy..but then ..struggling to think of batsmen that have been overlooked..

My choice for Samuels in the T20 was not Shai Hope but McCarthy who avg 29.20 with a run rate of 127.51 in the CPL.

The only replacement player that was not selected for the three formats and is not already in NZ, is Sheldon Cotterell.
The CWI did not want to spend additional money, flying players in.
