Andy Murray makes surprise announcement ahead of the Australian Open.

Three-time grand slam champion Andy Murray has broken down in an Australian Open press conference saying the Melbourne Park tournament may be his last.

The 31-year-old Scottish star said he’d hoped to be able to get to Wimbledon in the middle of the year — when he planned to retire — but his body may not allow him to last that long.

Murray has been struggling with injuries, specifically his troublesome hip in the last few years, and now it seems the pain may be all too much.

Thanks for the memories Andy. You've had a great career. Three Grand Slams is not to be sniffed at.

And when he was at his peak he had a good claim to be right up there at the top of the mountain. A very good run, no matter how it turns out.

Well I wonder if it would not have been a better move for him to have skip the Australian Open, keep on rehabing and retire at the Wimbledon

That interview was so sad. I felt it for him.
