Rawlston

According to the Express, the 21st was recorded after the burnt body was discovered in Tobago on the heels of 5 murders in Trinidad overnight. some were victims of one shot, one kill. We need to recalculate that 705 decline in the murder rate. This year's annual rate based on current predictions is running at 511, not far behind last year's 516.

As the blood of it's citizens continues to stained the streets of Trinbago when will this carnage stop
When women are murdered like dogs by criminals in any society and it's citizens go about their daily business without a care in the world what that tells you

Adrian
What’s even more disturbing about all these murders is how easy it is for these killers to just walk away without being caught. Nobody ever sees anything . Surveillance cameras are not that expensive people need to invest in cameras to protect their property and perhaps these killers will think twice before they kick down your door or storm into your home

Big jail for brutal rape after lime

A VALSAYN man who admitted to raping a friend of his in 2013 following a night of smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol has been sentenced by a High Court judge to just over 13 years in prison for his “shockingly offensive behaviour.”

But given that he had already been in custody for more than five years awaiting the matter to be called for trial, 31-year-old Lemuel Smith will serve just about eight more years behind bars before being released back into the free world.

He was sentenced on Friday by Justice Kathy-Ann Waterman Latchoo at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain after pleading guilty to committing the crime against the woman on the night of February 13, 2013.

He and another man had been charged with sexually assaulting the woman, but only Smith opted to enter the guilty plea. He was also charged with the offence of grievous sexual assault.

And lemme tell you something mine yours or your family experience isn't relevant here you know...one just has to take a drive and see for themselves, all some see is gloom and doom, but there much more to see and experience here..

Although one murder is one too much,16 less in short time is very encouraging..

That represents a huge decrease which incidentally is very consistent with new developments in local law enforcement etc.

T&T's final tally this year would be significantly less and that's my stance,so are we going to highlight every murder when it goes down too?

Because there's clearly a good trend now yet we are acting like it's record high numbers when it's actually trending downwards..

T&T was heading for over 600 last year and we nipped that, what you are seeing is that trend continuing and we have blood thirsty agenda driven fools presenting inaccurate numbers as fact..

Fuck sarge..there hasn't been a murder for days and that's something very positive..

Crime analysis: T&T on track for highest murder rate in history

I found that article just now,now read my comments people,I can tell you about T&T,not just some copy and paste smoke screen,my comments were based on positive trends and reality..

Like I said and maintained since last year after seeing for myself on the ground and interacting with the element and analyzing their opinions on many new tactics,we are on a positive trend, and it is there for all to see..

Expect this trend to continue, and of course there will be murders still, and of course one is one too many, but this is the real world and any reasonable and rational human being who seeks perspective and accuracy cannot deny the full circle that has been achieved here, from a sure record breaking end of year tally projection mid-year to one of the lowest January totals in years..

And while this trend is taking place others refuse to acknowledge the progress and jealously awaits the next murder.

bravos 2019-01-25 22:05:43

The staggering drop in the detection rate was shown from an average of 64.8 percent murder detection rate from 1990-1999, which plummeted to 13 percent by 2013.

Isn't it a coincidence that our high detection rate at the time was consistent with our very low murder rates at the time?

Well you know what? Detection is going up in folds by tens of %,should cross 50 very soon!! It's all falling into place but the naysayers aren't capable of seeing it or are simply not having it..

People think twice about committing murder if they think there's a good chance they can be caught..

To the reasonable and rational among us,ask me about T&T and I will tell you...

cool

Which country in Africa is rated the safest? Dunces, raise your hands. Which country in Africa are tourists starting to gallop to? Dunces, raise your hands...jackarses! It's tea & water (as we used to say as lil bwoys on Leg 1 island in the 70s), once there is physical security, economic security falls into place! Then corruption lessens/hidden/not in your face. Then the place gets tidy as in litter free. But, again...dont tell that to socishitists, he will just scoff at it & say, 'bai, it's more complex/complicated than that'....

After arguing with 'Redman', murder

GUN violence claimed the lives of two men on Saturday, bringing the year’s murder toll to 35 compared to 53 last year.

Police said the first incident occurred around 1 a.m. at Pashley Street, Laventille.

Nathaniel Barker was asleep at his Pashley Street home when he heard his son, Michael Mitchell, 24 shouting out his name.

Barker got up and ran out his house to check on his son who lives a short distance away.

As he walked in he saw Mitchell with four stab wounds to his chest. He attempted to walk towards his father but staggered and collapsed in front of him.

Barker contacted the Besson Street Police who took Mitchell to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1.57 a.m.

Police said that earlier on Friday Mitchell was seen arguing with a, “light-skinned man,” who goes by the alias, “Redman.”

DPP laments lack of priorities in fight against crime

AFTER nine years of operating at the junction between the Police Service and the court system, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard SC has seen enough to speak his mind about the lack of political commitment for putting real muscle behind the fight against crime.LATE receipt of State funds is playing havoc with the administration of justice.

As the public face in the matter of The People vs Crime, he is also aware of being an easy target for public anger.

As the link between crime and punishment, the DPP’s office is like a traffic police officer, signaling stop, go and, as most would argue, slow.

From its own perspective, however, it may be more the equivalent of a traffic officer in plain clothes, unequipped for countering public mistrust.

Yes ppl lime, ppl out and about all hour of the night but those are the same ppl who get robbed, raped and attacked.
They just learn the hard way.
Same ppl who despite alot of the financial struggles they facing, spending their last bit of savings or even taking loans for the carnival season.

I does drive in the night a lot, whether it being on most cases early night like 8 or 9 coming from gym or a bit later from liming, but the road does be dead.
Barely any cars, almost like a ghost town around 9pm and later.
Bars and mini marts closing by 8 most nights.

This wasn't so a couple years back, with each day going things are getting worse, I'm seeing that.

Yes at the popular hot spots and fetes you'd see tons of ppl thats expected but even so still alot of things does happen there too.
But its at ur lil villages and communities, especially the known quiet ones is where you have to stay indoors at night. You can't even take a lil walk or lime by the road because the criminals have been targeting these areas as its easy for game for them.

I went to 2 carnival fetes these past 2 weekends at the Lara stadium and was pleased to see a heavy police presence.

I'll also say since Gary took over the job, the police has been more active which is good.

Xavier

Statistically, we are tracking at the same average murder rate for 2019 (1.413/day) as we had for the whole of 2018 (1.419/day). The problem of gun violence and murder is entrenched in TNT and not enough is being done to address the problem

Rawlston
In other terms, the current rate is 535 per annum to put it in perspective. Still higher than Gary's optimistic but premature extrapolations for January murders.

Deonarine

imagine the trini dictator hurting so bad that he gone all the way to new york to fight for dictator madburro than to address the criminality that he and his party unleashing in trinbago. from the time he and his party came into power the killing just keep increasing and getting more violent.

Everyone has an opinion much like an asshole, and 40 murders a months isn't 535 per annum,we had 60 last January and didn't reach that.

Anyway look out for sub 40 months from here on people,if we had last January's total for the whole of 2018 we would've had over 700 murders,January is usually the highest month even double following months in many cases.

Look out for a much lower February people..and a much lower 2019.
