He probably working for free.
I don't see how you have Drakes on the payroll and fire Drakes and hire Reifer to coach a team.

Larr Pullo Apr 14, 2019, 1:52:07 AM

"Interim"

Still a there must me a process - what’s the process - what wasn’t Crandon r drakes appointed “interim “

So Crandon can't be chosen becuase the GCB is illegal, and rightly, while the players should not be penalized, no there should be no other hires from Guyana until they get themselves onside. So that leaves Drakes and Reifer. Reifer has a pavilion named after him and he was a former WI captain... lol lol lol twisted twisted

Look it's "interim".

is interim a process?

If you are going to exclude coach, you should players also , that is duplicity.

Crandon from GT,he is not a board rep.

Narper Apr 14, 2019, 6:42:18 AM

Looks like Reefah asked for his A team assistant

Unfair for Crandon to lose his position after having been involved with success.

EX-GUYANA fast bowler, Rayon Griffith, is expected to be a part of the new Cricket West Indies (CWI) coaching team spearheaded by former A team coach Floyd Reifer.

Griffith, the region’s A-team assistant coach will fill the new fielding coach position, which will form the critical backroom staff for the prestigious World Cup scheduled for England and Wales in May and June.

That's exactly the question I asked someone a few days back.

The big criticism of the Pybus hire was that the post wasn't advertised. Isn't it the same for this hire?

No one but Harper should be the fielding coach.

Harper would have made a good coach, too

Untrue bro - “illegality” of the GCB has nothing to do with the selection of a coach or even a player , from Guyana -

We have elected the same people in different clothes - there is no process ...

Could have gone down like this

Reifer appointed interim head coach wihich means he’s in charge for the team for the biggest tournament in cricket......the ICC World Cup

It’s been publicly stated that winning the World Cup is a goal of CWI. Previously black listed players apparently under consideration once again for selection.

Anytime there are management changes, in any sphere.....be it private enterprise, government, pro sports etc.....the people who are now in charge prefer to work with people that they already know and trust. This is not new and cricket is no exception.

Reifer may have said that Crandon is a good coach, but he knows and trusts Griffith and this is who he wants as his assistant. The World Cup is weeks away. Time is of the essence and if the interim coach says this is what he needs to do his best job, then CWI would naturally ok that request.

This may not mean that Crandon is out completely. Reifer is interim coach. He had been orb notice that CWI will be looking for a permanent hire after the World Cup. Perhaps both Reifer and Crandon will be among the candidates applying for positions then.

First things first, does the CWI constitution have any "Law, order and procedure" for interim appointments?
Let's determine this first before we lose sleep over the appointment.

… another word for interim is acting, and in most organization no advert is required when selecting someone to act in the post until someone permanent is selected.

But interim /acting is a well known tactic to give one the job permanently. If he is given renewed interim contracts for a year he will technically be the most experienced coach locally plus if he win anything that will top up the resume. That is when they will advertise the job permanently and it will be tailormade for the incumbent Reefa ….. smile
