West Indies fast bowling legend Andy Roberts has blasted the captaincy of Jason Holder following a disappointing showing at the recently concluded ICC World Cup in England.

The regional team was tipped by a few pundits and fans to be capable of causing issues for the more fancied teams at the tournament but failed to live up to expectations.

The same could be said for the 27-year-old Holder who headed into the tournament in a rich vein of form but failed to deliver a telling performance.  In his opinion, Roberts believes one of the biggest issues the team faced during the tournament was a lack of organisation and leadership.

Underhanded advocacy for the return of Dear Leader, $ammy?

Most students of WI cricket could see that Holder is not much of a tactician and he seem to be without help from the coaching staff, so what will Skerritt do now? Will he be patient and hope he eventually gets better?

I hope is this not interpreted as a swipe against Holder. I too share Robert's sentiment but I do like the guy.

Lloydie as called for him not to be replaced. I have no beef with that either.

Roberts spoke about backroom support and that too seem to be lacking.

The long and short is that something needs to be done

Holder should concentrate on his batting and bowling.
he is and was never captain material. Too soft in his approach. Too nice a guy.
he seems a nice and kindhearted fellow not a ruthless one needed for a captaincy position.
Lloyd should know this.

Agreed with everything you said especially about his docile attitude. Holder has lost some 15+ ODI matches and should not come near our white ball setup.

Sure, but there isn't any to be found in current WI cricket, apart from Holder.

In ODI cricket, Carlos B is probably a much better captain than Holder, but he seems unable to earn a spot regularly in the team. Holder's on-field performances have not been stellar either, but he still remains the region's best all-rounder, and good enough in the ODI format to merit a regular spot.

Since Dave's removal, team selection along insular lines seems to have become even worse, with the long-term player development policy abandoned. So, improved team performances will likely not occur under Skerritt - regardless of the quality of Holder's captaincy.

“They had no plans because you had to have plan A, B, and then plan C; but their only plan was to bowl short and it showed throughout the entire tournament that they felt they could win based on the amount of – I can’t say fast bowlers – the amount of people they had with long run-ups and no head,” he added.

Andy don't mince his words

The person with the most intensity for the captaincy job is Kieron Pollard.
He has that intensity and will needed for the position.
He also is in and out of the WI set up. Hopefully Skeritt will keep his word and change things for the better. Would love to see Pollard as skipper and Hetmyer as his protege for the limited overs teams.

Pollard can't make the team, but Bravo can

All that is required for selection is to play cricket and show your form.
I hope past performances are also tallied. One season wonders not cutting it, we blind sah!

With Chase captaining the A team the Selectors might be giving him a tryout to see if he could do the job.
