The Jamaica Tallawahs were charged with a breach of Article 2.5 of the Hero CPL Code of Conduct – Minimum Over Rate Offences – at the end of Match 10 between themselves and the Trinbago Knight Riders on Friday 13^th September at the Sabina Park. 

The charge of being one (1) over down was laid by the Match Officials Team against the captain of the Tallawahs, Chris Gayle. 

This was the Tallawahs’ second Minimum Overs Breach of the tournament, following the same charge being laid at the conclusion of Match 3 against the same opponents in Trinidad. As provided for at Appendix 2, Section 4.2 of the Code of Conduct, the applicable monetary fine was imposed on the captain, and the Jamaica Tallawahs team was penalized with a 0.05 reduction in their Net Run Rate.

Isthe over rate that is achievable affected/ determined by the number of runs scored? Specifically the number of sixes and the time needed to retrieve / change the ball?

Everything is run on TV time. Imagine dat 493 runs being scored in 40 overs and one team being penalised for taking 4 or so minutes more to bowl dere overs

Wouldn't all those sixes being hit that sometimes necessitate changing of the ball (official comes on the field with a case of used balls from which one of comparable wear has to be picked) be considered?

Yes they are supposed to be taken into account. After all the adjustments the Team was judged to have taken 4 or so more minutes than required to bowl their overs.

All am saying is dat penalising a team for a slow over rate of one over in a match where almost 500 runs are scored in about 4 hours is like doing de same to a team dat wins a Test match on the morning of the 4th day
