Darren Bravo was dropped from West Indies' squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan, but former fast bowler and current commentator Michael Holding believes the left-hand batsman is "too talented to be left out".

Holding's endorsement comes after chief selector Roger Harper also backed Bravo to return to the side.

"I would tell him to find something that works. If he has a technical problem - and I don't know if that is the case - I would tell him to find someone and get it sorted," Holding said on the Line & Length podcast this week. "If it's just a matter of going through a bad rut and you don't know exactly what the problem is, again find someone who is highly qualified and skilful enough to look at you and suggest something that may be going wrong and try and get it sorted."

Bravo still has a central contract, having been awarded an all-format deal in July.

It is unfair dropping Bravo when Kraigg, Ambris, Hope, and Hetmeyer hasn't lit 2019 on fire either. And in my honest opinion, he is a better batsman than anyone of them.
Out of that bunch, I would give Hetmeyer and Chase a pass because, in 2019, their averages were 25.67, and 29.00 respectively.

Roger, you should have continued on the same path dropping: Ambris and Kraigg, they were as awful as Bravo.

Bravo needs to get some first class cricket under his belt. That ban did him no good. He needs a solid season to get himself back. Averages are irrelevant because bravo is potentially the only superstar we have as a batsman. He needs the overs under his belt. You can thank that hotel managing fool for this predicament but I know bravo will come back stronger next year. I want to see him fully match fit for the visit of SA next year

Nobody is expecting any better of Kraigg.......a batsman who is totally unsure of where his off stump is and thus is always fishing. We don't expect that of chase or hope either. But we do notice when a brilliant player like bravo has trouble timing the ball, as I noticed in QPO on a pitch that was not slow

Bravo issue is in his head, he does not look like he is putting in the work or playing enough to get back to where he should be, when India's A team toured the WI earlier this year why did he not play in some of the games?

Bravo looks rustle that's what......and he has only played highly competitive cricket since the ban was lifted. You aren't going to find form with that sort of pressure. He's not timing the ball which was his strong point. He needs a season of fc cricket to clean out the cobwebs

Bravo has had enough time to get his game together, look at the example of Steve Smith, he was ban for a year and came back with a vengeance, the commentators said he practices with the batting machine until 12.00am many times, that is a player who has pride in his game and high standards, Bravo however look like he is waiting on a divine intervention, like is timing and technique would just return whenever.

That is why I said he needs a few rounds of first class cricket. Steve smith was not banned from grade cricket during his exile. Which is why he came back so well. At one point bravo was banned from first class and list a cricket, unable to turn out for the red force. And let's not forget Cameron's pathological dishonesty is the genesis of this mess
