Delta CEO weighs on on reclining seats

Bad take, Mr Delta.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in an interview with CNBC on Friday that a passenger should make sure it's all right with the person behind them before reclining.

"The proper thing to do if you recline into somebody is that you ask if it's OK first and then you do it," Bastian said.

That's great and all but he doesn't address why it's such a big issue in the first place - namely, the airlines squeezing us in like sardines more and more over the years.

Then he comes with:

The Delta CEO also said he never reclines his seat or objects when someone else does it to him, despite his height.

"I never recline, because I don't think it's something that, since I'm the CEO of the airline, I should be reclining my seat," Bastian said. "And I never say anything if someone reclines into me."

lol lol lol

Like Mr. CEO guy flies in cattle-class and has to really deal with getting his knees knocked.

Peeps have no respect with that stuff, should not be allowed.

Truth is back int he date when we were not packed in like sardines, folks would recline with ease.

It is the greedy airlines who have created the problem and now a CEO is speaking out - what a joke.

Had a similar experience on one of those commuter jets a few weeks back. I had to restrain myself from punching the woman who did it in her head back. I woulda made the news. I told her she paid for her space, not mine and hers and to keep her seat back where it is. Then I got up and stood in the aisle so she could see all 6' 5 of me... lol lol lol

Isn’t there an available device that some passengers, typically business peeps, used to chocked the seat from reclining?? lol lol

I also thought that the airlines should make the seats in a way that it cannot recline more than 2 inches.

Bingo - if the Delta chief is taking that approach then surely he's obliged to remove the recline option from his aircraft

The CEO and airplane designers should have known that if they give many people options someone is going to abuse the option.
