The West Indies batsman wants more runs and more wins.

He made the frank disclosure on Sunday night after the team went down by just six runs in another nailbiter to Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in the central town Kandy. It was the second close finish to the three-match series, following the one-wicket heart-breaking defeat in the opening match at the Sinhalese Sports Club in the capital city, Colombo.

In the first match, Hope top-scored with 115. In the last, he was again the leading man with 72. In between, he made 51 in the second contest. That’s a total of 238 runs at the impressive average of 79.3 runs per innings. He kept wicket for all 150 overs Sri Lanka batted and also held eight catches behind the stumps. He batted most of every innings, so he was on the field more than any other player in the series. However, in his eyes, there is still a burning desire to do more.

“I feel like I haven’t scored enough runs! I’m just trying to do my job for the team. My job is to bat long and score runs and it’s unfortunate that we couldn’t get the wins in this series. They say there’s a learning curve for everything, so hopefully, we can learn from this as quickly as possible and move on from there,” Hope said.

TriniD don't care what de haters sey. Shai is our best batsman in ODIs. All class, and still getting better. Once he scores, we have a chance to win. It's still a team sport. Other batsmen have to pull their weight too, and do what they are selected to do.

The batmen did there part in my opinion but could be better. It was the bowlers that let us down in all 3 matches.They were just not at their best.

2nd fastest to 3000 runs in the history of ODIs behind only Amal. Funny how when Steve Smith, Williamson and aforementioned Amla bat the same way, makes the same runs, they are called great but when Hope does it, it’s a problem.

The difference between the two of us can clearly be shown to our overall attitude to life and is manifest in this simple and unimportant topic. I am results oriented, you are a beauricrat. You are obsessed with process and feelings and aesthetics. Those things mean nothing unless I get results. Shai Hope rarely wins games for the WI. Hetty wins games for the WI. ODI cricket today is largely about batting, with teams scoring at greater than run a ball. In other words we have to score more than 300 to give ourselves a chance of victory. When Hope scores 120 off 150 balls, the rest of the team has to score 180 off the same 150 balls. On the one hand you are telling us that Hope is the best batsman in the team and in the same breath you want lesser batsmen to do better than him by scoring 50% more runs off the same amount of balls.
My question to you is would you play Shai in t20 cricket and if not WHY NOT???

not hope fault at all......WI should have won this series three nil....poor catching, inconsistent bowling and the anonymity of the the lower part of the middle order hurt us badly......pollard was the first to admit his performance in the second odi was unacceptable
