HEADLINE: Phil Simmons faces calls for sacking after leaving lockdown to attend funeral

The president of the Barbados Cricket Association has called for the "immediate removal" of Phil Simmons as head coach of West Indies.
Conde' Riley, who is also on the board of directors of Cricket West Indies (CWI), has described Simmons' decision to attend a family funeral as "inconsiderate and reckless" and claimed it has "endangered the lives" of the rest of the touring party.
Simmons, who is based in the UK, was allowed to leave the West Indies training base to attend the funeral of his father-in-law at the end of last week. As a consequence, he was obliged to go into quarantine in the team hotel upon his return.
In an email to board members, Riley wrote: "I just heard on the radio that our head coach Mr Phil Simmons attended a funeral recently and is now being quarantined as a result. If this is true I am calling for his immediate removal as head coach.

This is such a non issue. Family and life are greater than cricket or any sport. Riley is the one who should be removed but blame the Bajans for putting him there when we all know he is an arrogant ass.

Johnny Graves released a public statement which made it abundantly clear that CWI granted Phil Simmonds permission to attend his father in law's funeral.
Now you all see who the fomenter of certain ills within this organization is.
It is a jackass Bajan who could have simply made a phone call to Mr Jimmy Adams or the CEO and ask a simple question or he could have called his fellow Bajan Roland Holder and asked a simple question.
This guy Condi Riley is a real lightweight Director. A fraud and a jackass to call for the removal of the head coach without having a reason to do so.

For clarity, Bajans are 97% literate. However, many can be found in the remaining 3%.

Entire tour is being held in totally changed circumstances....25 players selected...intra practice matches...And the head coach goes out and get himself quarantined...no doubt personal matter do over rides cricket... That's head coach decision..But at the same time can he endanger other players and staffs safety...rules are rules...head coach is supposed to be the person implementing strict rules among players ...His act is unprofessional...to say the least...

What am I missing ? ( genuine question ) ,,, does he not go into self quarantine ? .... how does he endanger "players and staff safety".
His responsibility to his wife and family comes before that of his job ,,, tests come and go, tours will come and go,, jobs will come and go ,, family is with you forever. Once he is not exposing others in the bio-secure bubble while in quarantine , I don't see the problem.

tests come and go, tours will come and go,, jobs will come and go
I again agree, missing one tour does not end his career as a coach. There will be many more tests and tours

Well my friend, I can tell you with one hundred per cent certainty that a Director whose first name starts with the letter "C" asked the ethics committed to look into certain actions undertaken by two individuals in the echelons of CWI.
If you are Bajan, this may be a little too hard for you to figure out.

No remedy for covid till date.... quarantine for how many days... scientists not sure... WHO changing guidelines frequently....5 days...14 days...21 days... quarantine... before a ball has been bowled....Windies team find itself emboldened in a situation totally avoidable.... family always over rides any
professional work job... decision solely upon individual...at the same time ..it must be remembered present time is totally unprecedented...better safe than sorry...Moreover, in modern cricket head coach plays more important role in team than captain...now head is quarantined..team is rudderless...

Say what !!!, CWI has been rudderless for over two decades. Simmo can talk to his assistants and prepare a game plan, the captain can follow such.Is Simmo gonna Bat and bowl?

Totally agree with you in regard to staying connected and giving instructions .....never believe in bring past events to justify present wrong action...being physically present ...or virtually is totally different....windies lacks professionalism...head coach action surely shows that... that's my opinion ...anyone welcomed to differ with it...

Greetings folks. I do not know Riley or any other director for that matter. However, Simmons received clearance to attend a function and this Riley character is calling for his ousting. Is Riley of sane mind? It is those individuals who contribute for the chaos within the regional setup. Smdh!!!!!
