CHATTOGRAM, Bangladesh (CMC) — Assistant West Indies Coach Roddy Estwick believes it is time for fast bowler Alzarri Joseph to assume a major role in the Test attack, with the view of becoming its mainstay in the coming years.

Estwick said while the 24-year-old had come into his own in the One-Day International (ODI) format, he had yet to really make a big impact in Tests and urged the player to produce the type of performances which would install him as the natural successor to the aging new ball pair of Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel.

“I think he's been disappointed with his returns at Test match level,” Estwick said looking ahead to the two-Test series bowling off here Wednesday.

“I expect a lot better from him. I think he's a wonderful bowler and he's now at the stage where he should be looking to take over the attack from Shannon and Roachie, both now in their 30s, and he's got to lead the attack.

kinda wierd he barely get any wickets in the one day matches against bangladesh. As a seasoned bowler he should been wreaking havoc especially against bangla which is about the same level as them in ranking. He's Not even doing anything in the warm up matches either. Look more like he trying to be a top rated tailender batsman than a bowler

Alazarri actually bowled very well in N and was terribly unfortunate a few drop catches and a missed UDRS opportunity by the cappo Mr Conservative conspired against him having better figures. De human beach ball should be focusing on the slow bowlers they pick who somehow supposed to get us 20 wickets

Estwick is one of the biggest goat mouths there is!! I wish that he did not call Aljo's name. But now that we know he is on the team, that should mean that Reifer either is not or will be competing with Mayers for a spot. I still think that 6 batters incl wicket keeper and 5 frontline bowlers is the way to go so Reifer sits out as does Mayers and Moseley gets his cap along with Bonner
