HEADLINE: Simmons welcomes Windies selection headache

The West Indies contingent, who will be returning home this week, will all have broad smiles on their faces when they touch down in their respective territories, following their Test series win away to Bangladesh.

No smile will be broader than that of head coach Phil Simmons, who watched as his young troops masterminded back-to-back Test wins to claim their first away series win since 2017.

For Simmons, winning the series under adverse circumstances is one of his top three moments as a coach, and the Trinidadian had nothing but praise for Kraigg Brathwaite and his troops, who pulled off what many felt was a near-impossible task.

“I was pleased mainly with the work ethic and the ability of the players to absorb information and put things together,” he said. “I think the guys were completely open-minded about what we needed to do, to work and be good in the series. If you are good in the series, then you have a chance of winning.”

Congrats Coach Simmons, well-done Sir, and I agree with you that it’s a wonderful selection problem and situation that any Test Coach would embrace. The only problem is to think carefully as we do not want any missteps regarding the future of WI test cricket, especially regarding the future of our debutant heroes.

Not a problem to me. Those who refuses to go will have to play a season of 4 day cricket to get a look.

What headache Simmons talking about......apart from Bonner ,Silva...in both test.....and Mayers in the 2nd inning of the 1st, which batsman excel in the test series..... Braithwaite and Blackwood with one half century in 4 innings.... Campbell ,Mosley... nothing to speak of....I watched both the test and my personal opinion ...save and except Bonner and Silva......rest were badly exposed technically.....that too against rusty Bangladesh team playing test after 1 year.....

Its a headache only for Coaches and Selectors, most fans have already selected their test team. CWI maybe concerned about predicament of the incumbent players who refused to tour Bangladesh but we say forward ever, backward never!
